  • Publication number: 20240099928
Abstract: A brain injury reduction system provides a protective measure that temporarily or decreases venous drainage out of the intracranial compartment during or immediately before and during a sudden change in acceleration of an individual's head. Specifically, a wearable helmet or other wearable structure of the brain injury reduction system detects an impending collision and determines whether a protective measure is needed. If so, one or more actuation devices provides the protective measure to reduce venous drainage through one or both of the internal jugular veins or paravertebral venous plexus. A first actuation device stimulates a gag reflex or valsalva-like maneuver to reduce venous drainage through the paravertebral venous plexus. A second actuation device can physically compress the internal jugular veins.

  • Publication number: 20200032083
Abstract: A wear-resistant composition which includes a polymeric hot-melt binder system which includes at least one wear-resistant additive which includes diamond particles dispersed therein. A surface covering includes a base layer, a wear-resistant layer, and optionally a topcoat layer. The wear-resistant layer is laminated to the base layer. The wear-resistant layer may be formed by dispersing a plurality of wear-resistant additive particles, which include diamonds, into a liquid to form a stable liquid dispersion, blending the stable liquid dispersion into a polymeric resin to form a mixture, and extruding the mixture to form the wear layer.

  • Patent number: 10484772
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide an intentional leak from a rear volume of an ear cup to the atmosphere. The leak is created via a vent in the driver plate acoustic assembly. The vent reduces an acoustic load the ear cup cover creates on a rear cavity of an electroacoustic transducer contained within the driver plate acoustic assembly of a headset. Additionally, the vent is hidden on an assembled ear cup of a headset. Due to the placement of the vent, ear cup cover may have a smooth, seamless surface.

  • Publication number: 20040190774
Abstract: A method of classifying and accessing writing examples for writing composition. A language domain is first selected and representatives texts from that domain are analyzed to build a classification system for the domain. The text is first analyzed to determine root nouns and root verbs. The texts are further analyzed to determine relationships between nouns and the root verbs used for each noun-to-noun relationship. At this point, writing examples are then extracted from the texts and stored in a database. These writing examples are then classified by the earlier defined noun-to-noun relationships and root verbs that go along with those noun-to-noun relationships. Access to the writing examples is accomplished via a three-level interface. The first level (noun interface) maps nouns and pre-determined relationships between those nouns.
