Patent number: 9936632Abstract: A dry chemical delivery tube and its surrounding nutrient applicator system are located in a narrow space in a soil working implement in an agricultural setting. Between an inlet end and an outlet end, the chemical delivery tube transitions from a circular cross section to an oval cross section. In one embodiment, the soil working implement includes soil opening/closing disks and liquid or gaseous delivery tubes that closely surround the chemical delivery tube.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2015Date of Patent: April 10, 2018Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: Daniel P. Bruns, Ken Herrmann

Patent number: 9894822Abstract: A tool assembly for an agricultural implement includes a ground-engaging tool mounted to the implement support frame by an assembly of a support post, a mounting bracket and a frame mount. At least one of the support post and the mounting bracket includes a substantially cylindrical rod and a collar having an axial opening configured to receive the rod. An interface arrangement may provide multiple contact areas between the support post and the collar. A recessed pocket may retain a nut that threads onto set screw used to engage the rod, such as at a detent recess, and fix the position of the support post with respect to the mounting bracket. The mounting bracket may provide for alternate fore-aft and lateral mounting orientations.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2015Date of Patent: February 20, 2018Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: Mark D. Beeck, Robert T. Casper, Richard J. Connell, David L. Steinlage, Daniel P. Bruns

Patent number: 9775274Abstract: An agricultural implement has a ground opening and closing assembly that readily allows for adjustment of a pair of closing disks into different, discreet or infinitely variable, home positions that vary in height, disk spacing and fore/aft dimension. In one form, a pair of disk mounts have a pair of mounting receptacles for each support arm. Each support arm is configured to be inserted into one of the receptacles to set the height and fore/aft position of the associated closing disk. Mounting openings can be formed in the disk mounts and the support arms, and a simple pin mechanism received in aligned mounting openings can effect manual disk adjustment without tools. The disk mounts and the support arms can have multiple mounting openings spaced apart differently from the ground opening member to vary the spacing between the closing disks.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2014Date of Patent: October 3, 2017Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: David L. Steinlage, Robert T. Casper, Mark D. Beeck, Daniel P. Bruns

Patent number: 9532499Abstract: A gas monitoring system on an agricultural implement such as a tractor or cultivator includes a nutrient applicator to inject chemicals or compounds into the soil. Although the soil generally covers over the chemicals or compounds, there still may be gases released into the atmosphere. The system includes a sensor that detects the gas phase of the chemicals or compounds. The system is also set up to generate an indication when a concentration of the gas passes a threshold. If the concentration of the gas in the atmosphere is too high, an alarm may sound or flash, or the release of the chemicals or compounds is reduced or ceased.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2014Date of Patent: January 3, 2017Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: Noel W. Anderson, Christopher D. Turner, Daniel P. Bruns

Patent number: 8413739Abstract: An agricultural implement including a coupling mechanism for coupling to a vehicle and a frame having a tool tube with a top, which is coupled to the coupling mechanism. The frame is adapted to be pulled by the vehicle. The agricultural implement includes a plurality of wheel assemblies coupled to the frame, which support the frame above a surface. The agricultural implement includes a tool tube bracket coupled to the tool tube. The agricultural implement includes a standard having a mounting portion and a tool-receiving portion. The mounting portion is coupled to the tool tube bracket for translational adjustment of a position of the standard relative to the tool tube. The agricultural implement includes a tool coupled to the tool-receiving portion of the standard.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2011Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Robert T.
