  • Publication number: 20250112550
Abstract: A power system for powering a pulsed load that intermittently delivers current pulses can include: an energy reservoir; a first DC-DC converter having an input that receives an input voltage and an output coupled to the energy reservoir; a second DC-DC converter having an input coupled to the energy reservoir and an output couplable to the pulsed load; and control circuitry that operates the first DC-DC converter to charge the energy reservoir from a minimum or valley voltage to a maximum or peak voltage during a charging window just prior to a current pulse of the pulsed load so that the first DC-DC converter is at or near its maximum output current at a beginning of the current pulse of the pulsed load.

  • Publication number: 20240077929
Abstract: The present disclosure describes systems and methods associated with selective powering of an electronic display in response to sensed data indicating that the electronic display is not visible. By selectively enabling the electronic display between power states based on whether the electronic display is visible, a perceivably always-on electronic display may be provided without the electronic display being always-on, thereby balancing consumer interests with technical requirements of a relatively long battery life and correspondingly low power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20240077930
Abstract: The present disclosure describes systems and methods associated with selective powering of an electronic display in response to operating conditions, additional data, and/or predicting that the electronic display is not going to be viewed or visible. By selectively enabling the electronic display between power states based on a prediction of when a viewer is expected to view the electronic display, a perceivably always-on electronic display may be provided without the electronic display being always-on, thereby balancing consumer interests with technical requirements of a relatively long battery life and correspondingly low power consumption.

  • Patent number: 11594199
Abstract: An electronic device such as a cellular telephone or other device may have a housing with front and rear faces joined by a sidewall. A display may be mounted on the front face. The electronic device may include multiple ambient light sensors such as a front ambient light sensor on the front face and one or more supplemental ambient light sensors on the rear face and/or on the sidewall. The front ambient light sensor gathers a front ambient light intensity measurement and the supplemental ambient light sensor gathers a supplemental ambient light intensity measurement. During operation, control circuitry in the electronic device adjusts the display brightness based on data from the ambient light sensors. The control circuitry may implement power saving restrictions that limit when the supplemental ambient light intensity measurement is taken into account and/or that impose a brightness cap on the display brightness.

  • Publication number: 20220393714
Abstract: An electronic device housing may include a display cover layer that overlaps an array of pixels. The cover layer or other portion of the housing may have an opening that forms an optical and audio port. Optical and audio components may be coupled to the port. A port cover may cover some or all of the port. The port cover may include one or more layers of mesh or other materials that allow light and sound to pass while blocking environmental contaminants. The optical components may include an ambient light sensor or other devices that receive light and/or may include devices that emit light. The audio components may include a microphone and/or a speaker. The optical component may emit or receive light that passes through the audio component. A structure in the interior of the housing may form a passageway coupled to the port through which sound and light passes.

  • Patent number: 11164694
Abstract: Inductors that generate a reduced spurious electric-field. One example can provide an inductor where the terminals of the inductor are located at positions that reduce the spurious electric field by determining the types of signals conveyed at the terminals of the inductor and then selecting locations for the terminals based on that determination. For example, where a dynamic differential signal is applied to the inductor, the terminals of the inductor can be positioned near a physical center of the inductor.
