  • Publication number: 20040225253
Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for iontophoretic transdermal delivery of one or more therapeutic agents into a user's skin includes a first reservoir for containing one or more therapeutic agents, a second reservoir for containing one or more therapeutic agents, and a self-contained power source for generating electric current. The power source includes a first terminal and a second terminal. The system also includes a first electrode for electrically coupling the first terminal of the power source to the first reservoir. The first electrode is operable to conduct electric current between the power source and the first reservoir to ionize the one or more therapeutic agents contained within the first reservoir for iontophoretic transdermal delivery into the user's skin. The system also includes a second electrode for electrically coupling the second terminal of the power source to the second reservoir.

  • Publication number: 20040097923
Abstract: In certain embodiments, a fluidic compression device adapted to accommodate an external fixation device includes at least one fluid-impermeable bladder adapted to contain a fluid and at least one region adapted to receive and accommodate one or more external portions of an external fixation device. The fluidic compression device is adapted to be positioned about a portion of a user's body such that an opening formed within the region receives and accommodates one or more external portions of the external fixation device. The fluidic compression device is further adapted to apply intermittent compression to the portion of the user's body according to intermittent increases and decreases in fluid pressure in the bladder while the device is positioned about the portion of the user's body and is accommodating the external fixation device.
