  • Publication number: 20260061242
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure include the manufacture of non-naturally occurring bacteria for perchlorate bioremediation. An exemplary method includes determining a source bacteria having one or more source genes which code for perchlorate reduction and chlorite dismutase and determining a target bacteria that does not naturally include the source genes. A first sequence of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is identified in the source genes that codes, in the source bacteria, for an ordered set of amino acids whose linear sequence results in a protein which breaks down perchlorates and a second sequence of DNA is determined which, if inserted into the target bacteria, would allow the target bacteria to code for the ordered set of amino acids. A gene package is built by replacing the first sequence of DNA with the second sequence of DNA and the gene package is inserted into the target bacteria, thereby forming a non-naturally occurring modified bacteria.

  • Patent number: 11620048
Abstract: A computing device is described that displays a set of graphical elements in a status bar of a graphical user interface. Each graphical element corresponds to a different pending notification. While expanding a notification shade from the status bar, the device displays the graphical elements within an area of the notification shade that is adjacent to a leading edge of the notification shade. Responsive to determining that a particular notification message is newly visible, the device removes, a particular graphical element that corresponds to the particular notification message, and displays the particular graphical element within the particular notification message. In this manner, interaction with the notification area may be more efficient, as during a process of expanding or contracting this area, the user may be informed the underlying state of the set of pending notifications as a whole.

  • Publication number: 20200012423
Abstract: A computing device is described that receives one or more notifications, categorizes, each of the one or more notifications as either: important and ongoing, person-to-person, or regular, by-the-way, and groups the one or more notifications according to category. The computing device receives a user input for displaying a notification area of a graphical user interface and displays the notification area such that: by-the-way notifications are displayed least prominent, regular notifications are displayed more prominent than the by-the-way notifications, person-to-person notifications are displayed more prominent in than regular notifications, and important and ongoing notifications are displayed more prominently than person-to-person notifications. Appropriate categorization of notifications may provide a user with information relating to underlying operation of the computing device, and may for example immediately indicate the significance of one or more notifications to that operation.

  • Patent number: 10522874
Abstract: A solid state battery system and methods of forming a solid state battery system. The solid state battery system has a plurality of fiber battery cells formed into a pattern. Each fiber battery cell has a fiber inner core which may be a carbon-graphite, carbon-nanotube, boron-nanotube or boron-nitride-nanotube fiber and serves as the anode. In addition, the fiber battery cell has an electrolyte layer formed over the fiber inner core and an outer conductive layer (the cathode) formed over the electrolyte layer. A first terminal is electrically coupled to the fiber inner core of each of the plurality of fiber battery cells. A second terminal is electrically coupled to the outer conductive layer of each of the plurality of fiber battery cells. The solid state battery system may be incorporated into a composite part for a vehicle, such as an aircraft.

  • Patent number: 10401239
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for measuring stress in a composite structure including an integral sensor network. The composite structure is formed in layers with each of the layers formed from parallel fibers. At least one of the layers includes a plurality of fiber sensor cells distributed among the parallel fibers. Each of the fiber sensor cells has an inner fiber core and a non-conductive layer formed over the inner fiber core. A controller is electrically coupled to each of the fiber sensor cells and configured to determine a level of stress in the composite structure based on a change in a resistance level of the inner fiber core of each of the fiber sensor cells. The fiber sensor cells may be in a single direction or may be in a weave pattern with a first group arranged at a non-zero angle with respect to a second group.
