Patent number: 12538861Abstract: A method for controlling traction of a wheeled vehicle or a vehicle combination having a tractor vehicle and at least one trailer vehicle. A sensor device on a coupling element of a trailer device transmits coupling forces in x, y, and z directions to the coupling element of the tractor vehicle, which are measured and emitted as force signals. From these force signals, an evaluation unit determines the coupling force acting in the respective vehicle direction and transmits them to a control unit. Traction of the tractor vehicle is adapted to suit the properties of the ground surface. Using sequences of the coupling forces, the dynamic fraction if filtered out and from these a characteristic value is determined and transmitted to the control unit. If the characteristic value exceeds a limit value, then at least one measure to improve the traction of the tractor vehicle is carried out.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2022Date of Patent: February 3, 2026Assignee: ZF CV Systems Global GmbHInventors: Mirko Brütt, Daniel Pfefferkorn, Jan Spremberg, Thomas Wolf

Publication number: 20250386174Abstract: The disclosure provides a method for assisting a docking procedure by a vehicle to a specified loading dock of a logistics facility having a plurality of loading docks. Short-range radio communication is established between the loading docks and the vehicle using a short-range radio signal including an identifier. The specified loading dock and/or the vehicle is identified based on the identifier in the short-range radio signal. The specified loading dock and/or the vehicle is identified is located based on at least one signal incident angle (a) of the short-range radio signal, and/or at least one time-of-flight measurement of the short-range radio signal (31). The specified loading dock and/or the vehicle is driven up using the short-range radio signal for navigating the vehicle to the specified loading dock.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2025Publication date: December 18, 2025Inventors: Daniel PFEFFERKORN, Andelko GLAVINIC, Thomas WOLF, Niklas BROLL

Publication number: 20240265558Abstract: A method is for detecting a cargo within a cargo compartment. The interior of the compartment containing the cargo is captured via a camera. The captured image information is subjected to automatic image processing. The algorithm underlying the image processing contains a program part or operator for edge detection, which determines edges of the cargo that are recognizable from the image information by the camera. Via the algorithm, the model of the cargo described by the current edge configuration of the cargo is then fitted into a model described by the edges of the compartment, namely by performing a comparison of the recognizable edges of the cargo and their edge lengths with the edges of the unladen compartment and their edge lengths, or with the edges of the compartment in a previous loaded state and the associated edge lengths. From this, the space occupied by the cargo is determined.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 18, 2024Publication date: August 8, 2024Inventors: Dennis Buchner, Tobias Klinger, Daniel Pfefferkorn, Thomas Wolf

Patent number: 12045763Abstract: A method is provided for tracking a load when loading a vehicle. The load is provided with a load communication module and the vehicle includes, at an entrance, at least two entrance communication modules and, at a distance from the entrance and from the entrance communication modules, at least one vehicle communication module. The method includes, when the load is delivered to the vehicle, first communicating, by the load communication module with the at least two entrance communication modules and then communicating, by the load communication module with the vehicle communication module.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2020Date of Patent: July 23, 2024Assignee: ZF CV SYSTEMS EUROPE BVInventors: Daniel Pfefferkorn, Thomas Wolf, Thomas Hollwedel

Publication number: 20230191858Abstract: A device for coupling a towing vehicle to a trailer vehicle of a vehicle combination, where the towing vehicle has a trailer coupling and the trailer vehicle has a drawbar. A measurement device is configured to measure forces and/or torques between the towing vehicle and the trailer vehicle has a two-part support with a first and second support components. The first support component has at least two measurement arms which extend radially and are symmetrically offset relative to one another. A strain gauge rosette is on each measurement arm. The second support component has counter-arms which extend radially and which correspond in number and arrangement to the measurement arms. The two support components can be attached firmly to one another and to the trailer coupling or to the drawbar. Also disclosed is a measurement-data capture and evaluation unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 13, 2022Publication date: June 22, 2023Applicant: ZF CV Systems Global GmbHInventors: Daniel Pfefferkorn, Thomas Wolf, Maximilian Dittloff

Publication number: 20210248398Abstract: A method for monitoring a load compartment (14) in a vehicle (10) uses an optical sensor (21) installed in the load compartment (14), a computer system with software for image processing and a graphical user interface. According to the method, a grid R of the cargo load compartment is stored in the computer system. An image I(t1) captured by the optical sensor (21) at a time t1 is converted in the computer system into a grid image RI which shows the occupancy, non-occupancy or change of occupancy of the load compartment according to the stored grid R. The grid image RI is displayed on the graphical user interface.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2019Publication date: August 12, 2021Inventors: Umut Gencaslan, Thomas Wolf, Dennis Buchner, Tobias Klinger, Daniel Pfefferkorn, Gandert Marcel Rita Van Raemdonck

Patent number: 8495286Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and respective system for operating a DRAM main memory. One buffer line is provided for multiple pages. When writing data to the buffer it is decided which to which buffer-line the data is written to based on its destination main memory address. A tuple consisting of lower memory address and data is stored. Data entered into the buffer-line will be sorted by page in case the line is flushed to the main memory. Sorting the buffer entries results in less page openings and closings, since the data is re-arranged by memory address and therefore in logical order. By using one line for multiple pages only a fraction of memory of a common set-associative cache is needed, thus decreasing the amount of overhead significantly.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2010Date of Patent: July 23, 2013Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Cagri Balkesen, Markus Buehler, Rainer Dorsch, Guenther Hutzl, Michael W. Patent number: 8380737Abstract: First and second sets of numbers are received in an input range, which is separated into sub ranges. A first sub range is processed by initializing bits of a memory to a first logical state and by changing the initial state of each of the bits corresponding to a received number of the first set that is within the first sub range. Each number received in the second set is compared to a bit in the memory to identify a set of received numbers that are in the first sub range and that are in both the first set and the second set. The comparing is responsive to detecting a change of initial state of any bit in the memory during the processing of the first sub range. The processing and comparing is repeated for remaining sub ranges to identify received numbers that are in both the sets.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2011Date of Patent: February 19, 2013Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Cagri Balkesen, Markus T. Publication number: 20120158774Abstract: The present invention relates to a computer program product, method and system for computing set intersection of a first and a second unordered set of discrete members that stem from a known input range of consecutive discrete numbers. The method breaks the numbers into subranges and for each subrange, utilizes a bit vector in a first random access memory, directly addressing bits representing values in a subrange in the first set to values in the second set in the subrange and writing each number of the second set that is also set member of the first set in the sub range directly to an output. This may be utilized by various applications including database applications. The algorithm may be offloaded to one or more processing subsystems.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2011Publication date: June 21, 2012Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: CAGRI BALKESEN, MARKUS T.
