  • Patent number: 11686218
Abstract: A gas turbine engine having a bearing housing with a housing cavity and a shaft rotating about a rotation axis. One or more bearings support the shaft. A housing supporting the bearing and defining a chamber axially adjacent to the bearing. A seal assembly is in the housing between the chamber and an exterior of the chamber. The seal assembly includes a seal supported by the housing and surrounding the shaft so as to define an annular gap between an inner surface of the seal and an outer surface associated to the shaft, the gap defining a part of a sealing path of the seal assembly for air to flow from said exterior into the chamber. An impeller rotates with the shaft and located radially inward of the gap relative to the rotation axis, the impeller oriented to drive oil toward the bearing.

  • Publication number: 20210187792
Abstract: An open mold for producing components made of a moldable material such as layered composite materials is made from an additive manufacturing technology. The mold includes at least two compatible mold segments which precisely interlock with and abut against each other. The mold thereby made may be larger than the limited printing area of an additive manufacturing machine.

  • Patent number: 10851664
Abstract: A controlled gap radial oil sealing assembly in a gas turbine engine having a centre rotational axis defining an axial direction, the controlled gap radial sealing assembly comprises a seal element located around a cooperating seal runner and sized to define a controlled sealing gap between them, the seal runner having an axial length extending beyond an axial width of the seal element into an oiled region of the engine. A first annular surface radially outwardly spaced from and extending substantially along the axial length of the seal runner, the first annular surface sealingly cooperating with a seal housing of the seal element, and a second annular surface axially extending to overlap at least a portion of the first annular surface, the second annular surface radially outwardly spaced from the first annular surface relative to the center axis.

  • Patent number: 6181382
Abstract: An electronic apparatus for converting a standard video signal having 59.94 fields per second into an HDTV video signal having 60.00 fields per second, by adding a number of video fields into each sequence of 1000 video fields. The apparatus detects the best moment for adding the new video field, so that the human eye does not perceive an abrupt change in the video image, by detecting the best motion conditions which occurs either when the image motion is high or very low. For adding the new video field, the apparatus uses an interpolation technique for creating two interpolated video fields which are inserted in place of one existing video field which is deleted. The apparatus also comprises a de-interlacer module for deinterlacing the 60 Hz video image, by using an advanced interpolation technique for calculating the missing video lines.

  • Patent number: 5936676
Abstract: Apparatus and method for producing an output non-interlaced, progressive video component signal from an input interlaced video signal by mixing lines of the interlaced video component signal with lines of a calculated signal. A preferred embodiment adaptively combines three interpolation techniques. They include a steered spatio-temporal interpolation for moving edges, a vertical interpolation for vertically moving horizontal lines and a temporal interpolation for local still picture parts. Robust detectors associated respectively with the above interpolations are also provided. The edge direction detector is composed of subband filters, five oriented differentiators and logical filters for reliable direction decision making. The vertical motion detector for horizontal edges introduced for reducing the horizontal line flicker is composed of temporally directional differentiators working on lowpass filtered signal, a decision device and logical filters.

  • Patent number: 4192410
Abstract: The gear members of the non-synchronized gear unit of the gearbox are engaged by a gear selecting and engaging device which also drives a sliding member which is adapted to shift a lever. The lever has a braking surface which is engageable with the input shaft of the gearbox to brake the input shaft. When the gear members are in process of being brought into mutual engagement by the selecting and engaging device, the latter shifts the sliding member to an intermediate position in which the sliding member puts the lever in a position in which the braking surface engages and brakes the input shaft before the gear members have contacted each other. The selecting and engaging device, in continuing its action, finally puts the two gear members in mutual engagement and at the same time puts the intermediate member in a position in which it puts the lever in the position for disengaging the braking surface from the input shaft. In this way, upon engagement of the non-synchronized gear unit teeth noise is avoided.
