  • Patent number: 10697571
Abstract: A breakaway hydraulic coupler includes a coupler body assembly removably attachable to a fluid hydrant by a first lock member thereof. A sleeve assembly is connected to the coupler body assembly and includes a second lock member selectively movable into engagement with the first lock member to move the first lock member into locked position to attach the coupler body to the fluid hydrant. Upon an application of a load external to the hydraulic coupler exceeding a predetermined amount, the first lock member applies a sufficient force to the second lock member to cause a region of weakness of the second lock member to displace, allowing the first lock member to move to the unlocked position and the hydraulic coupler to detach from the hydrant.

  • Patent number: 8714028
Abstract: A fluid flow meter includes a fitting attachable to a waterworks valve or pipeline so as to extend at least partially through an insertion aperture thereof. A measurement cylinder is pivotally attached to the fitting, and includes a fluid vortex generating obstruction. A sensor body extends through the fitting and has a sensor element at an end thereof disposed in the measurement cylinder and generally aligned with the obstruction to detect fluid vortices generated by the obstruction. The measurement cylinder is selectively movable from a position generally aligned with the fitting, to a position generally parallel to the fluid flowing through the valve or pipeline.

  • Patent number: 8381761
Abstract: An adjustable hydraulically operated pressure management control pilot assembly has first and second diaphragm assemblies which define two fluid pressure chambers. Varying the pressure between these two fluid chambers modulates the control pilot assembly between adjusted low and high set points, which can be used to control high and low pressures downstream of a pressure reducing valve of a water supply system.

  • Publication number: 20120086204
Abstract: A system for generating electricity in a water distribution network includes a hydroelectric generator in fluid communication with a pipeline or a valve of the network. A differential pressure control pilot limits differential pressure across the hydroelectric generator. A solenoid coupled to the differential control pilot controls water passage through the differential control pilot, and thus the operation of the hydroelectric generator. An electronic controller may be used to optimize power generated by the hydroelectric generator.

  • Publication number: 20110132479
Abstract: A bi-directional valve system for an aquifer thermal energy storage system includes a hydraulic control valve fluidly connected to the aquifer pump and pipeline. A control pump is selectively actuated to hydraulically open and close fluid outlets of the hydraulic control valve. When the fluid outlets are closed, a full flow of water can be pumped from the aquifer, or pressure in the pipeline of the system maintained or increased. However, when the fluid pressure needs to be reduced or water reintroduced into the aquifer, the fluid outlets of the hydraulic control valve are selectively opened.

  • Publication number: 20100071787
Abstract: A system for hydraulically managing fluid pressure in a fluid distribution system between pressure set points includes a main valve having a fluid inlet and outlet. The main valve is configured to open to increase fluid flow therethrough and to close to reduce the fluid flow therethrough. A variable orifice assembly is coupled to the main valve and has fluid apertures formed in a housing thereof to create a fluid flow pathway therebetween. A valve stem is variably positioned within the housing to alter the fluid flow between the fluid apertures. A first control pilot is in fluid communication with the main valve and a first fluid aperture of the variable orifice assembly. A second control pilot is in fluid communication with the main valve and a second fluid aperture of the variable orifice assembly. The valve position and fluid flow are variable as the main valve opens and closes.
