Patent number: 12135136Abstract: A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system includes multiple circuit components that enable determining that a refrigerant leak is present in the HVAC system based on a signal. The circuit components then send a first set of instructions to a first set of control systems associated with one or more fans in response to the refrigerant leak being present. The first set of instructions causes the one or more fans to activate. The system then determines that the refrigerant leak signal is no longer present, and initiates a counter to detect when a period of time has passed in response to determining that the refrigerant leak signal is no longer present. The system then sends a second set of instructions to the first control system to cause the fans to return to base operating conditions in response to the counter indicating the period of time has passed.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2023Date of Patent: November 5, 2024Assignee: TYCO FIRE & SECURITY GMBHInventors: Daniel R. Hjortland, Daniel R. Rumler

Patent number: 12123605Abstract: A system that includes a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system that includes a sensor system within the HVAC system. The refrigerant sensor system includes a refrigerant sensor that detects the presence of an amount of refrigerant in the HVAC system and a control system that receives the amount of refrigerant detected from the refrigerant sensor. The control system also determines the amount of refrigerant exceeds a threshold value. Additionally, the control system sends one or more output signals to one or more components that are configured to couple to one or more devices that are part of the HVAC system. The one or more components are configured to cause the one or more devices to adjust operations based on the state of the components. The sensor system also includes a housing that encloses the refrigerant sensor and control system.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2021Date of Patent: October 22, 2024Assignee: TYCO FIRE & SECURITY GMBHInventors: Daniel R. Rumler, Denis Sterjo, Rex Jeremiah Allen, Daniel Disch, Dominika Steinova, Mylsamy M.
