  • Publication number: 20190394015
Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for improved duplex communications in an RF cable network comprising a plurality of CMs. In one embodiment, a system includes a CMTS operable to transmit downstream communications to the CMs and to process upstream communications from the CMs. The system also includes a duplex RF communication path between the CMTS and the CMs. The CMTS is further operable to transmit a control signal that directs a first of the CMs to transmit, to direct the remaining CMs to receive the transmission from the first CM, to direct the CMs to report received power levels of the transmission from the first CM, and to calculate RF isolations of the remaining CMs with respect to the first CM based on the reported power levels.

  • Publication number: 20190037494
Abstract: Systems and methods herein provide for the aggregation of a plurality of wireless base stations for access by a Mobile Central Office (MCO) communicating with user equipment (UEs) through a network. In one embodiment, a communication system includes a first plurality of wireless base stations, each being operable to communicate with UEs. The system also includes a base station aggregator operable to aggregate the wireless base stations into a virtual base station, and to interface with the MCO. The base station aggregator is further operable to process a request from the MCO for access to communications provided by the virtual base station, to grant the request, to intermediate on behalf of the MCO, and to exchange communications between the MCO and a UE subscribing to the MCO and operating within the coverage of the virtual base station.

  • Publication number: 20180131582
Abstract: Systems and methods for performing broadband profile management in a cable network are disclosed. The method may include establishing a network connection with a cable modem termination System (CMTS) and discovering OFDM channels utilized by the cable network where each of the OFDM channels includes a plurality of OFDM subcarriers. In addition, a current set of profiles for the cable network is discovered and each of the profiles defines a modulation order for each of the plurality of OFDM subcarriers in each OFDM channel. Signal quality values are obtained for the plurality of OFDM subcarriers to generate a mapping between the signal quality values and the OFDM subcarriers, and a plurality of profiles are generated based upon the mapping between the signal quality values and the OFDM subcarriers. Then each of the cable modems is assigned to one of the plurality of profiles.

  • Patent number: 9270039
Abstract: A surface mount connector includes a pair of electrical contacts spaced from each other a predetermined distance. Each contact includes a substantially flat base portion having upper and lower surfaces, the lower surface being suitable for soldering to a pad or land on a printed circuit board (PCB). Each contact is provided with an integrally-formed conductor-engaging portion extending from a base portion in a direction substantially normal to the base portion. Electrically non-conductive tape is secured to the upper surfaces of the spaced base portions for maintaining the contacts spaced at a set or predetermined distance from each other. The contacts each including member for physically and electrically engaging another insulated conductor so that the connector can physically and electrically engage and secure two separate insulated or clad conductors while maintaining them electrically isolated.

  • Patent number: 9246247
Abstract: A surface mount connector includes one or two spaced conductive contacts. Each conductive contact(s) include a substantially flat base portion suitable for soldering to a pad or land on a printed circuit board (PCB), At least one vertical finger extends substantially normally from each flat base portion and each terminates in a point or hook formed with a piercing tip at the free end thereof remote from the that base portion. The vertical finger(s) and flat base portion(s) define a space for receiving an insulated conductor arranged in a plane substantially parallel to the plane of the flat base portion(s). The finger(s) are directed inwardly at their free end(s) proximate to the piercing tip(s) and configured to deflect inwardly in a curling action when forced downwardly and crimped to pierce an associated insulated conductor positioned on the flat base portion(s).
