  • Publication number: 20210156365
Abstract: A tower for a wind turbine is disclosed, said wind turbine comprises the tower, a nacelle and a rotor having at least one rotor blade. The tower is configured for supporting the nacelle and the rotor on a support system. The tower itself may be structured as having an upper top end for supporting the nacelle and a lower support end for being placed on the support system. Electric energy generated is transported via power cables from the nacelle to an electric grid, preferably via power electronic components, switches and/or transformers. Furthermore, the nacelle may rotate around the yaw axis according to the current wind direction. Hence, the rotation of the nacelle introduces a twist into the power cables, wherein said twist causes a deviation (shortening) in the length of the power cables. Furthermore, the tower comprises at least one radial cable guiding device for receiving the cable and a cable support arrangement for supporting the cable in a beneficial manner.

  • Publication number: 20210084407
Abstract: An audio enhancement method includes receiving a first plurality of input signals representative of audio captured using an array of two or more sensors, the first plurality of input signals characterized by a first signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), with the audio being the signal-of-interest. The method also includes receiving a second input signal representative of the audio, the second input signal characterized by a second SNR. The second SNR is higher than the first SNR. The method further includes combining the first plurality of input signals and the second input signal to generate one or more driver signals, and driving one or more acoustic transducers using the one or more driver signals to generate an acoustic signal representative of the audio. The driver signals include spatial information derived from the first plurality of input signals, and are characterized by a third SNR that is higher than the first SNR.

  • Publication number: 20210063231
Abstract: A system for monitoring loading of equipment includes a transmitter assembly mounted to the equipment and a central server. The transmitter assembly has a strain gauge secured to the equipment, an on-board controller and a battery. The central server is in communication with the on-board controller. The central server is configured to receive collected loading data from the transmitter assembly. The on-board controller is configured to operate the transmitter assembly in a load monitoring power mode and a deep sleep mode. The on-board controller is configured to operate at a sleep interval when a load measured by the strain gauge is less than ten percent of a rated working load of the equipment and at an active interval when the load measured by the strain gauge is greater than ten percent of the rated working load. The sleep interval is less than the active interval.

  • Patent number: 10904977
Abstract: A light emitting diode system allows for high current end user LED matrix applications while mitigating internal damage to control circuitry that may be caused by excess current flow. In one example, multiple switches operate in parallel across an LED. When an overvoltage condition is detected in a first switch, a logic circuit determines those switches programmed to operate in parallel and causes them to conduct current. This reduces the amount of current flowing through any one switch and mitigates harm to the device. The parallel configuration of switches may be driven by a single pulse width modulated current. This allows the drive current to be divided between parallel transistors, limiting the damaging effects that can be caused by high currents flowing through the transistors.

  • Publication number: 20210017756
Abstract: The truss bracket may comprise a first side plate, a second side plate, and one or more web plates. The first side plate may be coupled to the second side plate by the web plates such that the first side plate is parallel to the second side plate. The truss bracket may join two or more coplanar timber elements in a predefined orientation at a joint of a roofing truss. The truss bracket may be operable to align the timber elements, to limit insertion distance of timber elements, to establish a pitch of a roof made from the roofing trusses, to hide an end face of the timber elements, or combinations thereof. The timber elements may be coupled using embodiments of the truss bracket. The truss bracket may aid in the rapid construction of a plurality of the roofing trusses in a consistent, reproducible manner.

  • Publication number: 20200413224
Abstract: Techniques for locating a misplaced primary wireless device (within a spatial region. In particular, the techniques presented herein use a secondary wireless device to collect a plurality of multivariate wireless data points within the spatial region. An artificially intelligent search algorithm analyzes the plurality of multivariate wireless data points to estimate the location of the wireless device. Directional instructions that guide the user to the estimated location of the primary wireless device are generated and then provided to the user.

  • Publication number: 20200383343
Abstract: Methods of forming a protective coating on a surface of one or more substrates. The methods include providing a mixture including a coating agent in a solvent, forming a fog from the mixture, allowing the fog to contact the outer surface of the one or more substrates so that a portion of the mixture accumulates on at least a portion of the surface of the one or more substrates. The solvent from the mixture is then at least partially removed from the surface of the one or more substrates, e.g., by evaporation or forced convection, causing a protective coating to be formed from the coating agent on at least a part of the surfaces of the one or more substrates. The protective coating can, for example, protect at least to some extent the substrates from biotic or abiotic stressors such as mass or moisture loss, oxidation, mold, fungi, or infestation.

  • Publication number: 20200376529
Abstract: Various embodiments provide for an extrusion device with a dummy block having a curved surface configured to change the shape and length of charge welds between extrudates originating from different billets in order to reduce the amount of scrap and waste material. In an embodiment, the dummy block, which forces the billet of material through the die, can have a concave front surface such that the material, as it is extruded through the die, forms a solid-state weld that is shorter than a flat faced dummy block. In another embodiment, the dummy block can have a convex front surface such that the material, as it is extruded through the die, forms a solid-state weld that is longer than a weld due to a flat faced dummy block. In other embodiments, billets with non-flat ends can also be used.

  • Patent number: 10667073
Abstract: A method is provided for directing a user to a point of interest using sounds played on a wearable audio output device. A user's direction of gaze is determined using data from at least one sensor in the audio output device. First and second locations are determined of the user and the point of interest respectively, and a distance is determined between the first and second locations. A relative angle between the direction of gaze and the direction of the point of interest is determined based on the determined first and second locations. A sample sound is altered using at least one sonification technique to convey information relating to the determined distance and the relative angle. The altered sample sound is rendered and output for playing by the audio output device.
