Abstract: Systems and methods for optimizing selection of media content for long-term outcomes are provided. Observational data including intermediate outcomes from an observation period is combined with historical data to select media content based on estimated long-term outcomes at the end of an optimization period. As time passes, the observational data is updated with more intermediate outcomes, allowing more accurate estimates of long-term outcomes to be made. In an example, a predictive model trained using the historical data uses the observational data to estimate distributions of long-term outcomes. An action selector selects samples from the distributions and selects media content based on the samples.

Abstract: The present application describes various methods and devices for providing content to users. In one aspect, a method includes, for each content item of a set of content items, obtaining a score for the content item using a recommender system, the score corresponding to a calculation of subsequent repeated engagement by a user with the content item. The method also includes ranking the set of content items based on the respective scores and providing recommendation information to the user for one or more highest ranked content items in the set of content items.

Abstract: A self closing and adjustable closing force cam hinge includes a compression spring located on the hinge so that a hinge pin passes through the compression spring and the head of the hinge pin is retracted in a direction away from the compression spring to compress the compression spring. Compression of the spring applies a closing force to the hinge when the hinge is in the open position. The hinge also includes a spring adjuster having an adjustably positionable body that is adjustably positionable relative to the head of the hinge pin. Adjustment of the position of the adjustably positionable body raises or lowers the head of the hinge pin such that raising of the hinge pin increases compression of the compression spring to increase the closing force applied by the compression spring and lowering of the hinge decreases compression of the compression spring to decrease the closing force applied by the compression spring.

Abstract: A vinyl fence system for replacing an existing wood fence configured to be installed utilizing posts of the existing wood fence. The fence system includes vinyl post sleeves that are slipped over and cover the existing wood posts. The fence system also includes vinyl fence panels made of individual vinyl pickets connected along their lengths by connectors. The panels are configured to be locked together and surface mounted to the wood posts by fasteners, such as screws, passed through the vinyl fence panels and the vinyl sleeves and into the wood post. The fence panels configured to lock together using stiffeners positioned in horizontal rails located on the fence panels, with fasteners, such as screws, extending through the stiffeners, the rails, and into the boards of the panels. Decorative covers are utilized to cover joints and fasteners, and a top rail is located over the ends of the boards.

Abstract: An adjustable hinge includes a tension spring having a first end and an opposite second end, the second end of the tension spring being fixed relative to a swing arm hinge mount, a pin having a head including a plurality of projections about a circumference of the head and an opposite end of the pin spaced from the head. The projections of the head are configured to be received by the recesses of a base plate hinge mount, and the pin is positioned to extend through the base plate hinge mount and the swing arm hinge mount and to cooperate with the tension spring so that a first end of the spring is fixed relative to the head of the pin, and then the head of the pin is rotated the first end of the spring also rotates.

The spring adjustment system includes a pin having a head including a plurality of projections about a circumference of the head and an opposite end of the pin spaced from the head.

Abstract: A fencing bracket system for supporting a fencing rail having internal cavities open at least one end of the rail. The bracket system includes a mount installable onto a post, and a bracket slidably installable over the mount to securely retain the bracket to the mount. The fencing bracket system avoids the need to install screws or like fasteners into the rails to facilitate installation of fencing and provide improved aesthetics.
