  • Publication number: 20240085623
Abstract: According to various embodiments, an array of elements forms an artificially-structured material. The artificially-structured material can also include an array of tuning mechanisms included as part of the array of elements that are configured to change material properties of the artificially-structured material on a per-element basis. The tuning mechanisms can change the material properties of the artificially-structured material by changing operational properties of the elements in the array of elements on a per-element basis based on one or a combination of stimuli detected by sensors included in the array of tuning mechanisms, programmable circuit modules included as part of the array of tuning mechanisms, data stored at individual data stores included as part of the array of tuning mechanisms, and communications transmitted through interconnects included as part of the array of elements.

  • Publication number: 20120025513
Abstract: A device for holding a fillable form includes a writing tray adapted for placement of the fillable form, the writing tray having walls defining a perimeter of a planar surface of the writing tray. A card holder is formed in at least one of the walls. The card holder includes a groove extending inwardly from one of the walls into a body of the writing tray. The groove is configured to hold an edge portion of an identification card in a press fit engagement with the remainder of the identification card being located outside of the groove. An edge ridge is formed along at least one of the walls and extends above the planar surface of the writing tray. The edge ridge facilitates retention of the fillable form.

  • Patent number: 5345218
Abstract: A vehicle having left and right lower rear brake lights and a center high-mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) flashes the CHMSL when brakes are initially applied. The lower brake lights do not automatically flash. After a predetermined duration, the CHMSL remains continuously activated until brakes are removed. A semiconductor oscillator circuit is configured to be energized when brakes are applied. It produces an oscillating signal which is responsible for causing the CHMSL to flash. A semiconductor timer circuit is also configured to be energized when brakes are applied. It produces a time out signal which activates a predetermined duration after brakes are applied and which is responsible for causing the CHMSL to remain continuously activated. The outputs of the oscillator and timer circuits are combined at a semiconductor switch which drives the CHMSL.
