  • Patent number: 10924708
Abstract: A telepresence device may relay video, audio, and/or measurement data to a user operating a control device. A user interface may permit the user to quickly view and/or understand temporally and/or spatially disparate information. The telepresence device may pre-gather looped video of spatially disparate areas in an environment. A temporal control mechanism may start video playback at a desired point in a current or historical video segment. Notations may be associated with time spans in a video and recalled by capturing an image similar to a frame in the time span of the video. An area of interest may be selected and video containing the area of interest may be automatically found. Situational data may be recorded and used to recall video segments of interest. The telepresence device may synchronize video playback and movement. A series of videos may be recorded at predetermined time intervals to capture visually trending information.

  • Publication number: 20200356101
Abstract: A telepresence robot may include a drive system, a control system, an imaging system, and a mapping module. The mapping module may access a map of an area and tags associated with the area. In various embodiments, each tag may include tag coordinates and tag information, which may include a tag annotation. A tag identification system may identify tags within a predetermined range of the current position and the control system may execute an action based on an identified tag whose tag information comprises a telepresence robot action modifier. The telepresence robot may rotate an upper portion independent from a lower portion. A remote terminal may allow an operator to control the telepresence robot using any combination of control methods, including by selecting a destination in a live video feed, by selecting a destination on a map, or by using a joystick or other peripheral device.

  • Publication number: 20200309595
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for controlling nonequilibrium electron transport process and generating phonons in low dimensional materials. The systems can include a conductive sheet sandwiched between a first insulation layer and a second insulation layer; a first electrode conductively coupled to a first end of the conductive sheet; a second electrode conductively coupled to a second end of the conductive sheet; and a current source conductively coupled to the first electrode and the second electrode and configured to pass a current from the first electrode through the conductive sheet to the second electrode such that current generates a drift velocity of electrons in the conductive sheet that is greater than the speed of sound to generate phonons.

  • Publication number: 20200273375
Abstract: A machine and its modules assist in steganography for an animal. A steganography module applies behavioral sequencing to create a cover message and a hidden message to covertly pass information from one animal to another animal, with the information embedded in an individual's brain. A visual module references the steganography module to cause a sequence of visual images on a display screen to guide a motor sequence of an individual as the cover message as well as detect and communicate a timing of the individual's motor sequence, relative in timing, to visual images in the sequence of visual images being displayed on the display screen, in order to train in the cover message and hidden message. The hidden message is then extracted at a destination from a sensor monitoring the individual's sequence of motor actions.

  • Publication number: 20200225302
Abstract: A method for probing the properties of nanoscale materials, such as 2D materials or proteins, via nanometer-scale nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) spectroscopy using individual atom-like impurities in diamond. Coherent manipulation of shallow nitrogen-vacancy (NV) color centers enables the probing of the NQR spectrum of nanoscale ensembles of nuclear spins. Measuring the NQR spectrum at different magnetic field orientations and magnitudes and fitting to a theoretical model allows for the extraction of atomic structural properties of the material with nanoscale resolution.

  • Publication number: 20200128895
Abstract: A clothing cuff clip attachable to an article of clothing, especially a pants leg cuff, to gather and lift the clothing up from an adjacent surface and provide a modest barrier between the surface and the clothing item being worn. The clothing cuff clip is inexpensive to manufacture in large quantities and may be disposable after extended use. The clip is easy to attach to the lower back edge of the pants leg cuff on the item of clothing being worn and yet remains securely attached even after extended use. Optionally, a contamination indicator that changes in appearance when subjected to significant moisture, a change in pH, or the presence of a selected contaminant material, is positioned on the lower floor contact area of the clip to provide the wearer with an indication of when the clip, and therefore the item of clothing, has come into contact with contaminated materials.
