  • Patent number: 10375527
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments provide techniques for notification of potential entry into an incorrect location. A user location is monitored via a mobile electronic device and an indoor positioning system. An intended floorplan zone is obtained via calendar information, social media information, ticketing information, manual entry, or other suitable mechanism. User speed is monitored. Based on user speed and/or deceleration, nearby floorplan zone categories are checked. If the floorplan zone does not match the intended floorplan zone, but the category is identical to that of the intended floorplan zone, an alert is issued to the user via the mobile electronic device that is associated with the user. This provides an unobtrusive way to alert users before entering a room. Thus, disclosed embodiments can prevent disruptions, thereby increasing productivity and also serving to reduce embarrassment of users caused by entering the wrong location within a venue.
