A latch release is pivotably mounted on the upper surface of the body, and may include a drain hole or trough forming a catch for tips of the latch release when in the open position. A latch rod extends through the opening through the upper surface of the body and connected at a first end that is external to the body to the latch release. A latch is secured to a second end of the latch rod inside the socket, the latch including a tab projecting from a rear surface of the latch and received by a slot within the body to guide movement of the latch.

An assembly for carrying out the method is also provided.

In order to reduce current spikes in the event of a surge current without significantly enlarging the semiconductor switching the circuit inductance for the commutation circuit, it is proposed that the bypass is opened by an overcurrent flowing through the bypass which is above a current value that can be achieved during fault-free operation of the modular unit, with the result that more current is forced through the inductive component than residual current flows through the bypass.

    Abstract: An electric energy storage device which is connected to an electronic circuit is discharged by way of a first and a second electric conductor. A thyristor is provided for discharging the energy storage device. As a result of a fault occurring in the electronic circuit, a discharge current of the energy storage device begins to flow from the energy storage device to the electronic circuit via the first electric conductor and back to the energy storage device via the second electric conductor. The discharge current causes a magnetic field which changes over time to be generated about the first electric conductor and the second electric conductor. The magnetic field penetrates the semiconductor material of the thyristor. By virtue of the temporally varying magnetic field, a current is induced in the semiconductor material of the thyristor, and the thyristor is activated by the induced current.
