  • Patent number: 10754950
Abstract: A method includes monitoring system call invocations made to an operating system of a computer system by an application as the application renders a digital file. The method automatically featurizes the system call invocations into a set of features corresponding to the digital file, and compares each feature set against benign features of a set of known benign features. The comparing includes, for each feature of the set of features, applying entity resolution between the feature and benign feature(s) of the set of known benign features to find a correlation between the feature and a benign feature representing a common semantic interaction between the application and the operating system. The method identifies a number of features that do not correlate to the benign features, and determines maliciousness of the digital file based on the identified number of features that do not correlate to the benign features.

  • Patent number: 9792299
Abstract: Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with controlling a device to perform functions using features of a native file system are described. According to one embodiment, a method includes in response to receiving a request to a file system in a first device from a second device, decoding a file path in the request to determine a function of the first device that correlates with the file path. The file system is defined to include a hierarchy of folders that correlate with functions performable by the first device. The method includes causing the first device to perform the function associated with the file path decoded from the request.

  • Patent number: 9009792
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and other embodiments associated with automatically configuring a secure wireless connection are described. According to one embodiment, an apparatus includes a security logic in a first device. The security logic is configured to determine a security code for wirelessly connecting to a second device by sending a request to initiate communication to the second device. The security logic is further configured to receive a reply from the second device in response to the request. The apparatus also includes a communication logic configured to establish a secure wireless connection to the second device from the first device by automatically initiating a Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) based, at least in part, on the security code.

  • Patent number: 8621071
Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and other embodiments associated with automatically selecting an access point are described. According to one embodiment, an apparatus includes an inquiry logic in a first device. The inquiry logic is configured to automatically determine attributes of a network connection between a network access point and a second device connected to the network access point. The inquiry logic is further configured to determine the attributes of the network connection in response to the first device being connected to the second device. The apparatus also includes a communication logic that is configured to self-configure and automatically establish a wireless connection to the network access point from the first device using the attributes.

  • Patent number: 8214066
Abstract: A system for processing a digital audio signal that includes a plurality of samples is disclosed. The system comprises a magnitude determination module, a windowing module, a summing module and a comparison module. The magnitude determination module determines a magnitude of each of the plurality of samples of the digital audio signal. The windowing module selects a subset of the plurality of samples, which are summed by the summing module to obtain a subset sum. The comparison module compares the subset sum to a threshold, and generates a silence indicating signal based on the comparison of the subset sum to the threshold. The silence indicating signal is indicative of a period of silence in the digital audio signal.
