Abstract: The present invention discloses a single radar strip centering system for measuring the position and width of a continuous metal strip during processing in order to adjust the position of the strip to meet or maintain centering. The single radar strip centering system includes a radar and a reflector positioned apart from one another. The reflector is provided with a spherical surface. The single radar strip centering system includes the strip placed in between the radar and the reflector. The strip includes a near wall and far wall. The strip includes a leading edge and trailing edge. The radar emits beams. The spherical surface on the reflector augments and shapes the scattered energy from the far wall. The radar simultaneously illuminates the leading edge and the reflector. The reflector redirects the transmitted energy toward the trailing edge and reflects radar energy scattered off the trailing edge back toward the radar.
