Patent number: 8098538Abstract: Method and apparatus for using a uni-directional write current to store different logic states in a non-volatile memory cell, such as a modified STRAM cell. In some embodiments, the memory cell has an unpinned ferromagnetic reference layer adjacent a cladded conductor, a ferromagnetic storage layer and a tunneling barrier between the reference layer and the storage layer. Passage of a current along the cladded conductor induces a selected magnetic orientation in the reference layer, which is transferred through the tunneling barrier for storage by the storage layer. Further, the orientation of the applying step is provided by a cladding layer adjacent a conductor along which a current is passed and the current induces a magnetic field in the cladding layer of the selected magnetic orientation.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2011Date of Patent: January 17, 2012Assignee: Seagate Technology LLCInventors: Daniel Seymour Reed, Yong Lu, Song S. Xue, Dimitar V. Dimitrov, Paul E. Anderson

Publication number: 20070044335Abstract: The level of the invention consists of a solid, thin central web that is connected to an upper box and a lower box. The central web supports level vials. The upper box and lower box have a hollow generally polygonal shape and define an upper surface and lower surface. A surface of either or both of the upper and lower boxes are calibrated with respect to the level vials to create leveling surfaces. The level vials are enclosed in housings that secure the level vials to the web. End caps are secured to the ends of the web and the upper and lower boxes.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2005Publication date: March 1, 2007Inventors: Brandon Hoover, Daniel Seymour, Eric Helda

Publication number: 20070025800Abstract: The instant invention is a mechanical pencil. The pencil includes a body having a cavity and a lead holding mechanism located in the cavity. The lead holding mechanism includes a pair of arms joined together by a bridge. Each arm terminates with a pair of fingers. The fingers close together when the lead holding mechanism is recessed into the cavity. The fingers open when the lead holding mechanism is advanced out of the cavity.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2005Publication date: February 1, 2007Inventors: James Burry, Daniel Seymour, Robert Irelan, Dean Snyder

Publication number: 20060226042Abstract: The storage case of the invention consists of a base and a mating cover. The cover is constructed of a first cover portion that is pivotably attached to the base and a second cover portion that is slidably retained on the first cover portion. To release the cover from the base, the second cover portion is moved to an extended position where the second cover portion is disengaged from the base. A plurality of drill bit cassettes hold the individual bits and are removably retained in a corresponding number of cassette holders located within the base. The cassette holders are connected to one another and to the cover such that when the cover is opened, the cassette holders are extended out of the base where they can be easily accessed. When the cover is closed the cassette holders are retracted into the base.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2005Publication date: October 12, 2006Inventors: Daniel Seymour, Brandon Hoover, Robert McRorie

Patent number: 6880872Abstract: A lever handle return spring assembly for a cylindrical lock mounted in a bored opening in a door includes support plates on opposite sides of the door. The support plates include cylindrically depressed inner regions that extend partially into the bored opening in the door to accommodate return springs and reduce the visual thickness of the return spring assembly. Spring housings containing compression springs turn within the support plate inner regions and are held in place by cover plates. The support plate, cover plate, spring housing and springs on each side of the door form complete assemblies that are attached to the door via through-bolts. At least one of the support plates preferably includes lock tabs that connect to the cylindrical lock to prevent rotation of the cylindrical lock relative to the door. The support plate and cover plate are designed for strength when stamped from a flat sheet.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2003Date of Patent: April 19, 2005Assignee: Sargent Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Darren C. Eller, Daniel Seymour, Todd C. Zimmer

Patent number: 6643948Abstract: A dual mode rule assembly includes a housing, a reel, an rule connected to the reel, a spring system to wind the rule around the reel, a mode selector structure manual movable between first mode and second mode positions, and a manually releasable spring-biased brake assembly operatively associated with the mode selector structure. When the mode selector structure is in the first mode position, the brake assembly enables controlled retraction of the rule toward and into the housing containing position under bias of the spring system after the rule has been manually moved outwardly from the housing by the manual release of the brake assembly. When the mode selector structure is in the second mode position, the brake assembly allows uncontrolled retraction of the rule toward and into the housing containing position under bias of the spring system after the rule has been manually moved outwardly from the housing.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2002Date of Patent: November 11, 2003Inventor: Daniel Seymour
