    Abstract: The invention relates to a fluid filter (1), in particular an oil filter for cleaning lubricating oil, in particular for internal combustion engines of motor vehicles, comprising a receiving space (3) for receiving a ring filter element (4), a cover (5) that can be attached to a housing (2) for closing the receiving space (3), an inlet (6) for crude fluid, an outlet (7) for cleaned fluid, an outlet (8) arranged on the bottom of the receiving space (3) in the installed state through which the receiving space (3) can be emptied when the cover (5) is removed, and a closure (11) arranged on the ring filter element (4), closing the outlet (8) when then ring filter element (4) is inserted into the receiving space (3) and the receiving space (3) is closed with the cover (5). To achieve another installed state, the cover (5) that can close the receiving space (3) is arranged on the bottom of the housing (2) in the installed state and contains the outlet (8).
