  • Patent number: 8189895
Abstract: A Method and system for visualising information by combining 3DRA with diagnostic data like regular CT or MR, and colorized physiologic data like perfusion or functional data to obtain a plurality of volumes obtained from the same patient. These volumes may be a 3DRA volume, a regular greyscale CT or MR volume and a colorized physiologic parameter like a perfusion CT, a perfusion MR or a functional MR volume. Then, an anatomic structure like a vessel is segmented from the 3DRA volume, a slab out of the regular CT or MR data is rendered through the segmented vessel, and a slice out of the colorized volume of the perfusion or functional data is rendered on top of the slab.

  • Publication number: 20110206248
Abstract: Automated Vessel Analysis (AVA) allows qualitative and quantitative feedback to the user, regarding vessel pathologies (such as stenosis), with a minimum of user input. However, present algorithms may be unsuitable for large datasets, especially because of the rather long pre-processing time. Here an imaging method for placing probes on the vessel tree is presented that does not require any pre-processing time at 5 all, and performs very well on (very) large datasets, both in terms of speed and memory consumption. The method comprises the steps: classifying voxels of a 3D data volume as voxels of the first, the second or further types, determining a starting voxel in a tubular structure of voxels of the first type, determining the centre line in the proximity of the starting voxel, and fitting a plane through the starting voxel, perpendicular to the 10 centre line.

  • Publication number: 20100294365
Abstract: A system and method of arranging a solar cell and reflector to replace a typical solar cell oriented normal to the incoming sunlight inside a module (i.e. parallel to a module's transparent cover plate or opening). The present invention in a preferred embodiment uses a solar cell oriented at a 45 degree angle to the incoming sunlight, and a reflective surface oriented perpendicular to the cell and at a 45 degree angle to the incoming sunlight. The solar cell and the mirror are the same length/size and form a V shape where the angle between the sloped sides is 90 degrees. Any light falling normally on the arrangement will hit the solar cell either directly or after reflection. In another embodiment, two adjacent reflectors can be used making angles of around 60 degrees and around 30 degrees with respect to the cover or opening. An alternate embodiment can include a second reflector added to the base of the cell and reflector pairings also at an approximate 45 degree angle with the cover or opening.

  • Publication number: 20100239140
Abstract: The present invention describes a method for rendering and displaying a curved planar reformat (CPR) view (7?) of a blood vessel's 3D tubular structure (1), wherein the viewing direction of the curved planar reformat view (7?) is coupled to the viewing angle on a segmented or raw representation of the 3D tubular structure's rendered voxel volume to be visualized or, alternatively, to the C-arm geometry of a 3D rotational angiography device's C-arm system (6). The proposed method thus enables measurements on the X-ray image which do not suffer from spatial foreshortening and do not need to be calibrated. Thereby, said coupling can be performed bidirectional. According to a first aspect of the proposed method, this means that the viewing direction of the aforementioned curved planar reformat view (7?) follows the viewing angle on a segmented or raw representation of the 3D tubular structure's rendered voxel volume to be visualized, or vice versa.

  • Publication number: 20090316361
Abstract: A method to control the temperature of a circulating fluid and thereby control the electrical output of a PV array is provided along with an apparatus for doing so which adds simple mechanical, data measurement and control elements to prior art systems. Given a set amount of sunlight, electrical output from a solar PV array will change if the temperature of the array changes. One can change the temperature of a PV array by circulating a fluid through a loop in thermal contact with the array. Controlling the temperature of this circulating fluid, allows one to control the electrical output from the array.

  • Publication number: 20090281418
Abstract: It is described a method for determining and assessing the tissue surrounding an object being inserted into a patient. The method comprises acquiring a first dataset representing a first 3D image of the patient, acquiring a second dataset representing a second 3D image of the blood vessel structure of the patient and acquiring a third dataset representing a 2D image of the patient including the object. The method further comprises recognizing the object within the 2D image, registering two of the three datasets with each other, whereby the object is back-projected in the blood vessel structure, in order to generate a first combined dataset, and registering the first combined dataset with the remaining dataset in order to generate a second combined dataset representing a further image surrounding the object. The method allows for combining diagnostic scanning such as CT, 3D RA and real-time 2D fluoroscopy.

  • Publication number: 20090194146
Abstract: A system and method of arranging multiple flat reflective facets around solar cells within a solar panel, or around a standard solar panel to increase the amount of light striking the solar cells or panel. The present invention in the preferred embodiment uses multiple reflector facets arranged to form an inverted pyramid shell where the apex of the pyramid is removed and replaced by a solar cell or panel. Accordingly each flat reflective facet has an isosceles trapezoid shape and has its shorter parallel side located adjacent and at a 120 degree angle to the solar cell or panel. This geometry ensures uniform illumination of the solar cell provided the reflector is approximately the same width as the solar cell; such uniform illumination may be especially helpful for PV generating applications. An alternate embodiment employs only three flat reflective facets, rather than four, around a standard solar panel.

  • Patent number: 7385939
Abstract: A network management apparatus and method for determining the topology of a network in which a Spanning-Tree protocol is implemented, is disclosed in which address table data is obtained from the ports of the core network devices on the network, and the identity of the ports of the core network devices are determined. Spanning-Tree protocol information is obtained from the core network devices and used to process the address table data to remove data relating to ports having links which are inactive. The topology of the network is then determined using the processed data by first selecting one of the core network devices as a root network device, and then using the processed address table data to build a network tree from the selected root device.

  • Publication number: 20080073198
Abstract: A solar distiller with a two part distilling chamber and a concentrating mirror which is designed to be lightweight and compact for ease of transport. The distilling chamber has two main parts; a trough for holding a liquid that will be distilled, and a condensing roof on which the liquid will condense that has channels for collecting the distilled liquid. The two part distilling chamber allows for simple operation and easy maintenance. The concentrating mirror is made from a flexible reflective sheet, which is formed into a nearly parabolic shape by the mirror frame. The mirror is designed so that it can be easily assembled and then later disassembled for storage or transport. A stand holds the distilling chamber at the approximate focus of the concentrating mirror. The concentrating mirror allows a relatively large amount of sunlight to be focused onto the distilling chamber producing a proportionately large amount of distilled liquid.

  • Publication number: 20070248318
Abstract: A method and system are provided for flexible mapping of AV vs. Record channels in a programmable transport demultiplexer/PVR engine. The method may involve processing a portion of an incoming packet, which may result in a partially processed packet. The preprocessing may comprise extracting information from the packet to configure parameters associated with the packet and storing the configured parameters in memory. The configured parameters may be based on the type of the packet, AV v. Record, and used to configure the channels used to transport the packets to decoders and Record engines, respectively. The number of channels used for AV data and the number of channels used for Record data may vary depending on the needs of the system.

  • Publication number: 20070157027
Abstract: An authentication protocol can be used to establish a secure method of communication between two devices on a network. Once established, the secure communication can be used to authenticate a client through various authentication methods, providing security in environments where intermediate devices cannot be trusted, such as wireless networks, or foreign network access points. Additionally, the caching of session keys and other relevant information can enable the two securely communicating endpoints to quickly resume their communication despite interruptions, such as when one endpoint changes the access point through which it is connected to the network. Also, the secure communication between the two devices can enable users to roam off of their home network, providing a mechanism by which access through foreign networks can be granted, while allowing the foreign network to monitor and control the use of its bandwidth.
