    Abstract: The invention relates to a wire material consisting of metallic material having an oxide surface, wherein the oxide surface of the wire material has a first oxide layer, which covers the metallic material at least in part and has a thickness of at least 200 nm to 2 ?m, and the oxide surface of the wire material has a second oxide layer which covers metallic material in the regions which are not covered by the first oxide layer. According to the invention, the second oxide layer has a maximum thickness of 0.01 to 10% of the thickness of the first oxide layer. The invention furthermore relates to a mesh and a breeding cage for aquaculture.
