  • Publication number: 20070177580
Abstract: A communication system (20) includes a message mediator (50) that converts between an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) protocol and a second, different protocol to facilitate communications between a first user device (26) having an IMS capacity or resident IMS client (28) and a second user device (30-40) that does not have IMS capacity. In a disclosed example, the message mediator acts as a centralized IMS client on behalf of a variety of devices not having their own IMS capacity. In one example, the user of a first device may instigate an IMS based communication among two other devices through the message mediator. The message mediator also provides presence information regarding individuals or devices active on the IMS network 22.

  • Publication number: 20070150569
Abstract: A processor (22) receives a televised programming signal from a source (30) of televised programming. The processor (22) also receives a signal indicating chat room content from a chat room facility (40). The processor (22) associates a visual representation of the chat room communication with a televised visual image so that the two can be simultaneously displayed on a display device (24). A disclosed example allows for various individuals to communicate using a chat room facility (40) and to simultaneously observe the communications within the chat room while watching televised programming, using a single display device (24).

  • Publication number: 20070072648
Abstract: A subscriber uploads to a hosted Web site an image of himself that has been taken, for example, by the internal camera of his mobile terminal. Through interaction with the Web site, the subscriber is able to manipulate that image by animating certain facial features and/or selecting different static or animated backgrounds and optional audio background. The resultant image is stored as a facetone file and is pushed or made available to users to download. The pushed or downloaded facetone file is stored in a user's mobile terminal in association with the subscriber's identity as per in the terminal's address book. When an incoming call is received and is recognized as being from a user having an associated facetone file, that facetone file is triggered and the facetone is displayed on the mobile terminal's display screen enabling the user to easily identify the calling party.

  • Publication number: 20050229185
Abstract: A root grammar is provided to facilitate navigation between speech centric applications in a communications network. The root grammar may be constructed from the application grammars of the supported applications. During recognition processing, the root grammar may be combined with a current application's active grammar to produce a composite grammar. Audio communications recognized as part of the composite grammar may be used to service the current application, to navigate between applications, and/or to access different parts or documents of applications directly without navigating through intervening levels. In particular, from a user's perspective, another application or document referenced by the root grammar may be accessed directly, as opposed to employing a lengthier navigation process.
