  • Patent number: 4721334
Abstract: A device for assisting in the use of chopsticks and a method of making same characterized by a band spring of single-piece, molded or formed construction, free of separate and joined members, to connect a pair of chopsticks at an adjustable distance from each other and enable their manipulation in a manner substantially identical and faithful to the proper holding and wielding of a pair of individual and unjoined chopsticks. The spring's structure consists of a curved and bent band spring extending between and terminating in two sleeves with adjustable apertures through which the chopsticks are passed. Forward disposition of one sleeve relative to the other sleeve causes one chopstick to have an axial component of movement when pressed toward the other chopstick. The sleeves are self-securing in their attachment to the chopsticks and can accommodate chopsticks of varying size. The distal space between the chopsticks can be altered to adjust the spring for holding by hands of differing size.

  • Patent number: 4244301
Abstract: A pre-assembled array of corner shelves is fastened together by three flexible lines threaded through apertures in the shelves so that they can hang downwardly from a single hook mounted in the corner between two intersecting walls. The lines are so disposed to form an acute angle with the corner line toward the frontmost edge of the shelf disposed in the corner, thereby to force the shelf against the corner and adjacent walls by its own weight and that of objects on it to support the structure and prevent it from slipping or sliding. The spacing may be rearranged simply by moving the lines and the shelves may be readily leveled in the same manner. The shelf array is simply removed for cleaning walls or the shelves without loosening any mounting hardware.

  • Patent number: 4187787
Abstract: A rope-suspended shelving unit wherein a plurality of generally rectangular shelves each of which has a front and rear edge are provided with first holes respectively in the four corners or only in the rear two corners. A second hole is substantially in the middle between one of the rear holes and either the respective front hole or the front edge. A third hole is substantially in the middle between the second hole and the respective front hole or front edge. The holes are adapted so that a rope, chain, cable or the like can pass through them so as to maintain the shelves in layered relationship at predetermined yet adjustable intervals. An elastic stabilizer is arranged on the part of the rope or the like in contact with the rear edge of the shelf so that the rope is fixed on the back side of the shelf in the lowermost step so that no receiving metal fixture is required and the formation is simple and stable in contact with the wall.
