    Abstract: A technique facilitates movement of fluids with reduced component loading by utilizing opposed axial forces. The system for moving fluid may be in the form of a gas compressor, liquid pump, or other device able to pump or otherwise move fluid from one location to another. According to an embodiment, the system includes rotor sections which are combined with pumping features. The rotor sections are disposed radially between corresponding inner and outer stator sections which may be powered to cause relative rotation of inner and outer rotor sections in opposite directions. The rotors and corresponding pumping features are configured to move fluid in opposed axial directions toward an outlet section so as to balance axial forces and thus reduce component loading, e.g. thrust bearing loading.

The stator is configured to electromagnetically engage with the first rotor section so as to rotate the first rotor section about a central axis in a first rotational direction. Further rotor sections can also be included that are induced to rotate in the first rotational direction. Other rotator sections with impellers and permanent magnets can also be included that are driven in a second, contra-rotating, direction by a second stator. Several of the fluid processing machine can be distributed within a surface system or subsea system that transports produced fluid from wells to a surface facility.

A plurality of sensing probe modules are included to sense proximity at various locations of the rotating shaft. The probe modules can include a fixed length stinger that can be gas-filled to maintain atmospheric pressure. The probe modules can also be a stinger-less design were the sensor is fixed to an inner pump housing and flexible cable is run through a channel of an outer pump pressure casing to a high pressure penetrator.
