  • Publication number: 20040134059
Abstract: Method of mounting at least one guiding insert between two coaxial tubes including mounting the at least one guiding insert onto an inner tube, wherein the at least one guiding insert includes an outer diameter, inserting the inner tube and the at least one guiding insert into an outer tube up to a selected position, wherein a clearance is maintained between a portion of the outer diameter of the at least one guiding insert and the inner diameter of the outer tube at the selected position, and securing the at least one guiding insert to the outer tube.

  • Publication number: 20030064720
Abstract: Statistical processing of event outcomes, such as call attempts or handoff attempts, allows reliable generation of performance alarms within a communication network without requiring analysis of historic performance data. Base station controllers might implement such statistical processing so that the controllers themselves rather than other, further removed network management entities generate performance alarms. Attendant advantages include but are not limited to relatively fast and reliable alarm generation using relatively small sample sets. These and other advantages permit detecting and reporting performance alarm conditions more quickly without sacrificing alarm generation reliability.

  • Patent number: 6263720
Abstract: A method including the following successive operations carried out on a tube section: a) swaging one end to form at least two longitudinal strips folded down edge to edge and radially projecting outwards; b) cutting out the external projection of the strips to obtain at least two longitudinally separate tabs; and c) shaping the tabs into wings. The method can be used for making stirrups or fork joints at the end of a tubular part. It can also be used to produce semirigid axles or cradles for motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 6250657
Abstract: The invention concerns the production of a mechanical assembly (10) comprising two tubular parts (11, 12) mutually connected, the tubular part (11), called bearer part, forming a housing (13) by means of which the tubular part (12) called borne part, is assembled thereto. The invention is characterised in that the housing (13) formed by the bearer part (11) is cut out in a swaged part (16) of said bearer part (12) wherein two wall zones (151, 152) opposite thereof are at least locally in contact with each other along a mutual butt-jointing zone (17) extending from one to the other of the two planes (P1, P2), which, parallel to each other, are offset relatively to each other along swaging direction (D) of these two wall zones (151, 152). The invention is in particular applicable to motor vehicle suspension arms.

  • Patent number: 6216330
Abstract: An assembly is formed of two parts sleeved together in a cruciform arrangement, namely an at least locally cylindrical part and a tubular part having a transverse hole into which the cylindrical part is forcibly inserted. To brace internally the wall of the tubular part on the side from which the cylindrical part is inserted, before such insertion a spacer is inserted into the tubular part through the hole in it and thereafter extends along a portion of the perimeter of the hole. Applications include the assembly of two parts.

  • Patent number: 6186696
Abstract: An assembly (10) formed of two parts pressed together in cruciform arrangement comprises a cylindrical part (11) and a tubular part (12). The tubular part (12) has a transverse hole (14) bordered by rims (18) extending toward each other. A spacer (16) in the form of a ring is inserted between the walls (15) of the tubular part (12), surrounding the region where the hole is to be formed. The rims are then deflected toward each other into engagement with the interior of the ring, the ring having a height equal to the distance between the walls (15). Thus, the ring (16) braces the tubular part (12) internally around the hole (14).

  • Patent number: 6126199
Abstract: An integral tubular metal cradle (1) for a motor vehicle, comprising tubular central portion (2) with two arms (5, 6 or 7,8) extending from each end (3,4) thereof and having a substantially open, semi-tubular cross-section, the arms being at a dihedral angle of less than 180.degree. at the point of connection to the central portion (2). The arms (5,6,7,8) provide a connection both to the vehicle bodywork and to either a front wheel wishbone or the rear axle of the vehicle. A method for making the integral tubular metal cradle is also provided.
