Publication number: 20210252697Abstract: A drive system includes a linear actuator with a drive shaft and having an actuation axis extending along a length of the linear actuator. A motor assembly of the drive system couples to drive shaft and is configured to rotate the drive shaft about the actuation axis of the linear actuator. The drive system further includes a nut attached to the drive shaft and a carrier housing the nut. A linkage system of the drive system extends from a proximal end away from the motor assembly to a distal end. The proximal end of the linkage system rotatably attaches to the carrier at a first proximal attachment location where the first proximal attachment location offset is from the actuation axis. The drive system also includes an output link rotatably coupled to the distal end of the linkage system where the output link is offset from the actuation axis.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 13, 2020Publication date: August 19, 2021Applicant: Boston Dynamics, Inc.Inventor: Jacob Daniel Webb

Patent number: 10320860Abstract: The disclosure includes a system and method for detecting fine grain copresence between users. The system includes a processor and a memory storing instructions that when executed cause the system to: transmit a wakeup signal to a plurality of devices based on coarse grain location information; send a request to a first device of the plurality of devices to transmit a token using a first communication technology to determine fine grain copresence; receive a first token acknowledgment from a first subset of the plurality of devices; send a request to a second device of the first subset of the plurality of devices to transmit the token using a second communication technology to determine fine grain copresence; receive a second token acknowledgment from a second subset of the plurality of devices; and refine copresence based on receiving the first and second token acknowledgment.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 2015Date of Patent: June 11, 2019Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Andrew Ames Bunner, Alan Lee Gardner, III, Mohammed Waleed Kadous, Brian Patrick Williams, Marc Stogaitis, Nadav Aharony, Brian Duff, Pascal Tom Getreuer, Zhentao Sun, Daniel Estrada Alva, Ami Patel, Benjamin Razon, Richard Daniel Webb, Tony Weber, Thomas Yuchin Chao, Ryan Michael Rifkin, Richard Francis Lyon, Liem Tran, Joseph A. Patent number: 9769624Abstract: The disclosure includes a system and method for detecting fine grain copresence between users. The system includes a processor and a memory storing instructions that when executed cause the system to receive user input regarding copresence detection settings for a first user device, the copresence detection settings comprising a location and/or a user access control list, and determine a current location of the first user device. The system may determine whether copresence detection of the first user device is enabled at the current location based on the copresence detection settings and the current location. Based on determining that copresence detection is enabled, the system may refine copresence and perform an action based on fine grain copresence of the first and second user device.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 2015Date of Patent: September 19, 2017Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Nadav Aharony, Andrew Ames Bunner, Alan Lee Gardner, III, Mohammed Waleed Kadous, Brian Patrick Williams, Marc Stogaitis, Brian Duff, Pascal Tom Getreuer, Zhentao Sun, Daniel Estrada Alva, Ami Patel, Benjamin Razon, Richard Daniel Webb, Tony Weber, Thomas Yuchin Chao, Ralph Jacob Cressman, Denise Ho, Liem Tran, Joseph A. Patent number: 9386417Abstract: The disclosure includes a system and method for detecting fine grain copresence between users. The system includes a processor and a memory storing instructions that when executed cause the system to: process one or more signals to determine coarse grain location information of a first device and a second device; determine whether the first device and the second device are copresent based on the coarse grain location information; in response to determining that the first device and the second device are copresent based on the coarse grain location information, transmit a signal to the second device to alert the second device to listen for a fine grain copresence token from the first device; and refine copresence based on receiving an indication that the second device has received the fine grain copresence token.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2015Date of Patent: July 5, 2016Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Andrew Ames Bunner, Alan Lee Gardner, III, Mohammed Waleed Kadous, Brian Patrick Williams, Marc Stogaitis, Nadav Aharony, Brian Duff, Pascal Tom Getreuer, Zhentao Sun, Daniel Estrada Alva, Ami Patel, Benjamin Razon, Richard Daniel Webb, Tony Weber, Thomas Yuchin Chao, Ryan Michael Rifkin, Richard Francis Lyon, Liem Tran, Joseph A. Publication number: 20130105226Abstract: A bushing of the type used to limit wobble in drill pipe, the improvement comprising a bushing defined by two halves, each half having two ends adapted to buttingly engage corresponding ends of the other, and each further defining a receiver section along one of its ends; a flexible hinge piece matingly joined to the receiver sections with the opposite ends of the halves remaining free to move relative to one another, whereby the halves are rotatably affixed together at one end, but the opposite ends remain free to open. The bushing may be comprised of a first polymeric material, and the hinge piece comprised of a second, more flexible, polymeric material. Each half of the bushing may have mounted thereto a handle projecting upwardly.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 2, 2011Publication date: May 2, 2013Applicant: ELASTECH TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Les Banta, Tim Coil, Daniel Webb, Suljo Haskic

Patent number: 8220735Abstract: An adaptive load limiting seat belt retractor particularly adapted for motor vehicle applications. The retractor provides multiple levels of load limiting through the use of a pair of internal torsion bar elements. The torsion bar elements control the tension force on the seat belt webbing during an impact in a manner which provides desirable crash management characteristics. The retractor can be switched between high and low load limiting modes through activation of a pyrotechnic pretensioner. When the pyrotechnic pretensioner is not activated, the retractor provides a low load level characteristic. Pretensioner activation switches the retractor into a high load level operating condition. A high load limiting level is provided when the pretensioner is not activated if the spindle rotation exceeds a limited level in the low load limiting condition.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2009Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Autoliv ASP, Inc.Inventors: Bin Wang, Frank Kiiskila, Daniel Webb, Jon E. Burrow, Kurt W. Schulz, Chad Moore, Gerald Keller
