Abstract: A page lifting device for use with loose-leaf binders containing binding rings. The leaves of the page lifter are formed from one or more stiff sheets of material or loops of stiff wire, rotatably affixed at their inner edges to an attaching member that is fixedly attached to the binding ring-base. The pivot axis between the leaves and attachment member is located close to the center of the substantially circular binder rings which, when the binder is closed, causes the page lifter leaves to envelope and lift the loose-leaf pages away from the binder spine. The page lifter leaves can contain slots or holes therein, which allow them to fit over the binder rings on closing.

Abstract: A device to inexpensively repair a wooden post that has rotted or failed. The device comprises a plate which has a plurality of holes drilled or punched in it for attaching above ground level to a side of a wooden post and at least two rods depending out from the face of the plate. At least one of the rods depends near the top of the plate and at least one of the rods depends near the bottom of the plate. This location of the rods allows them to work cooperatively in push-pull to counteract a moment tending to overturn the post. The rods extend into a hole dug in the soil adjacent to the existing post footing. After the fence has been aligned as desired, the hole is filled with concrete surrounding the rods.

Abstract: A single-door locking mailbox that includes a housing having an open end and a door pivotally mounted to the housing for closing and opening the end. The door can be fully open, near closed but not locked or fully closed. A locking assembly, with a latch which can be placed in either the locked or unlocked position with a key, is attached to the door. A catch is attached at one end to the inside of the enclosure and has a camming surface and a hole at the free end. The camming surface deflects the catch over the latch when the door is pushed closed. The hole in the catch is positioned and configured so that it captures the locked latch when the door is pushed fully closed. The catch is resilient enough to be elastically deflected over the latch. A guard over the catch shields it from being deflected by a finger or tool inserted through the mail slot by a thief.
