  • Publication number: 20230390034
Abstract: A technology is described for a certification system for tracking bulk dental material as it becomes a dental restoration. The bulk dental material, such as yttria stabilized zirconia, is used to form multiple different dental restorations. A trackable code is associated with and carried with the bulk dental material. The trackable code is associated with bulk information of the bulk dental material, such as yttria content and source of origin. A plurality of certificates is associated with and carried with the bulk dental material. Each certificate has a different distinguishable code associable with restoration information of a different one of the multiple different dental restorations. Each certificate is separable from the bulk dental material and associable with a different one of the multiple different dental restorations. Each certificate can be a single monolithic certificate with a partition separable into two parts including a dentist part and a patient part.

Abstract: A zirconia sintered body comprises zirconia and multiple different areas, including at least one upper area and at least one lower area having a different chemical composition and a different strength. The sintered body has a translucency and a strength with an inverse relationship. The translucency increases in one direction across the multiple different areas and the strength decreasing in the same direction across the multiple different areas. At least part of the sintered body has a total light transmittance of at least 35% and less than 53% to light with a wavelength at least at a point between 400 nm and 600 nm, and at least 51% and less than 57% to light with a wavelength at least at a point between 600 nm and 800 nm, at a thickness of 0.6 mm. • Publication number: 20210346131
Abstract: A dental block for producing a dental prosthesis comprises a green body including zirconia and having a chemical composition including increasing amounts of yttria through a thickness of the green body. The green body is substantially opaque with a substantially consistent optical characteristic of non-translucency with respect to visible light across the thickness, and is subsequently millable and sinterable to form the dental prosthesis with an optical characteristic of increasing translucency through a thickness of the dental prosthesis.
