    Abstract: An automatic tally unit and a method for enabling a golfer to keep a running electronic tally of strokes played during the course of a game of golf. The golf score tally device records a number of golf strokes taken with a golf club on a portion or entirety of a golf course. The golf score tally device has a sensor for selectively generating a signal when a golf ball is struck by the golf club, and a processor for tallying a number of strokes based at least on the signal.
