Patent number: 8071172Abstract: A process is provided for manufacturing devices that carry an active material. The process involves the continuous deposition of a strip of low-melting alloy in the liquid state on a ribbon of a metal net or a micro-perforated and stretched sheet metal, which surface has been pre-treated, for example by means of deoxidation. The ribbon is preferably prepared for subsequent cutting into individual components with active material. The deposition can occur by immersion into laminar wave or into a constant jet, by spraying of small drops or by liquid dispensation.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2005Date of Patent: December 6, 2011Assignee: Saes Getters S.p.A.Inventors: Daniele Martelli, Alessio Corazza, Giovanni Salvago, Luciano Pisoni

Patent number: 6139768Abstract: Nitrogenated evaporable getter devices are disclosed which are resistant to the fritting conditions of the production processes of kinescopes for times of about five hours. A process is also disclosed for the production of these devices. The nitrogenated evaporable getter material comprises: 1) BaAl.sub.4 powder, 2) nickel powder, and 3) iron nitride and/or germanium nitride particles that have been coated with a thin vitreous layer of boron oxide and silicon oxide, formed through a sol-gel process employing a starting solution wherein the atomic ratio between boron and silicon ranges from about 4:1 to 0.75:1.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1998Date of Patent: October 31, 2000Assignee: Saes Getters S.p.A.Inventors: Giuseppe Urso, Daniele Martelli, Corrado Carretti, Plinio Innocenzi, Massimo Guglielmi, Alessandro Martucci

Frittable-evaporable getters having discontinuous metallic members, radial recesses and indentations
Patent number: 6104138Abstract: A frittable evaporable getter device includes a metallic container having a disk-shaped bottom wall and a side wall extending upwardly from the bottom wall. A powder compact having an upper surface in which at least two radial recesses are formed is disposed in the container. The powder compact is formed of a mixture of BaAl.sub.4 powder and nickel powder. A discontinuous metallic member is embedded in the powder compact such that the member does not protrude from the upper surface of the powder compact and the member is spaced apart from the bottom wall of the container. An evaporable getter device having reduced activation time includes a powder compact formed of a mixture of BaAl.sub.4 powder, nickel powder, and between about 0.3% and about 5% by weight based on the total weight of the mixture of a third component selected from aluminum, iron, titanium, and alloys thereof.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1998Date of Patent: August 15, 2000Assignee: Saes Getters S.p.A.Inventors: Daniele Martelli, Luisa Mantovani, Stefano Trivellato, Giuseppe Urso, Raffaello Lattuada -
Patent number: 5508586Abstract: The invention relates to an integrated getter device essentially consisting of at least one evaporable getter device and at least one non-evaporable getter device, wherein the different getter devices circumscribe areas at least partially superimposed or coincident, lying on essentially parallel or coincident planes and preferably arranged in a coaxial way.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1994Date of Patent: April 16, 1996Assignee: SAES Getters S.p.A.Inventors: Daniele Martelli, Raffaello Lattuada, Claudio Boffito, Mario Borghi, Giuseppe Urso

Patent number: 4961040Abstract: An evaporable getter device for mounting in an electron tube is provided which comprises a pan-shaped container having a vertical side wall formed around the perimeter of a disc shaped bottom wall and a pulverized getter metal vapor releasing material pressed into the space formed by said side wall and said bottom wall. There is also provided a first heat transfer retarding means which delays the transfer of heat in a circumferential direction through the getter metal vapor releasing material. There is also provided a second heat transfer retarding means which delays the transfer of heat in a radial direction through the getter vapor releasing material. When the getter device is heated by currents induced from a radio frequency field created by a coil positioned outside the tube, opposite the getter device, high yields of getter metal are released in a short time without detachment of the getter material residues from the container.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1989Date of Patent: October 2, 1990Assignee: SAES Getters SpAInventors: Paolo della Porta, Daniele Martelli, Giuseppe Urso, Stefano Trivellato

Patent number: 4665343Abstract: A getter device comprises a getter metal vapor releasing material and a source of an alkali metal which releases an alkali metal during or after the latter period of getter metal evaporation. Such getter devices are found to produce less methane after evaporation of the getter metal without producing higher hydrocarbons. A higher pressure of hydrogen is formed which aids cathode functioning.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1985Date of Patent: May 12, 1987Assignee: S.A.E.S. Patent number: 4535267Abstract: A getter assembly is described which has an improved support such that the points of contact with the glass wall of a cathode ray tube have as low a temperature as possible.A tab member for mounting the getter device is attached to the lower side of a central disc shaped zone of the getter device formed of an upraised bottom portion of the bottom wall of the ring getter. Said tab member extends without touching the inner side wall of the getter material container of its bottom wall. A support means is attached, for example by spot welding, to the tab member, and has at least two concave surfaces facing the bottom wall of the container and lying in a plane perpendicular to the outwardly extending zone of the tab member. The support means can be attached to the tab in the same area as which the tab is attached to the central zone of the upraised bottom portion of the container.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1983Date of Patent: August 13, 1985Assignee: SAES Getters S.p.A.Inventors: Daniele Martelli, Giuseppe Lani
