Abstract: An embossing device comprises a first embossing roller and a second embossing roller forming a passage for a strip of wrapping material to be embossed; the first embossing roller comprises on its surface a tooth set to imprint a pattern and an imprinting system to imprint a reference on the strip to identify a section of the strip: the imprinting system comprises an area without teeth in the tooth set, extending along a sheaf of directrices of the first roller for forming on the strip a non-embossed band in the pattern; the imprinting system comprises a second tooth set lying on the sheaf of directrices to imprint an embossed mark on the strip in the non-embossed band.

Abstract: A system for manufacturing tobacco products whereby, a number (Pn) that represents a nominal production target for products of a given brand, and a number (Cmax) representing the maximum output capacity of the system, or in practice the maximum quantity of products in process that the system is able to handle, are programmed into master control unit (33). A tally (P) of products is kept, and, at a given moment (t1) following the completion of a number (Pr) of products that matches the target (Pn=Pr+Cmax), a first flash check is run on the quantity (C1) of the product actually turned out by the system; should it emerge from this first flash check that the actual quantity (C1) is equal to the maximum output capacity (Cmax), then a brand changeover procedure will be initiated by the master control unit (33).

Abstract: The supply of consumables and other materials to production machines in a system for the manufacture of tobacco products is managed using a method whereby, once a nominal target number of products has been programmed at a master control unit, a tally is kept of the number of products emerging from the machine located farthest downstream, and a corresponding signal relayed back to the master control unit, together with a signal indicating the consumption of the various types of material. On the basis of the information received, the master control unit will process an output message indicating the requirement for at least one given type of consumable or wrapping or other auxiliary material to be supplied, whereupon the message is sent to an operator entrusted with the task of replacing the depleted material.
