  • Publication number: 20010042257
Abstract: Methods for the preparation of transgenic sugarbeet cells and plants are presented. Preparation and use of leaf explants from micropropagated sugarbeet cultures contributes to the rapid and efficient introduction of nucleic acid sequences into sugarbeet plants.
    Type: Application

    Publication date: November 15, 2001
    Inventors: Dannette Connor-Ward, Maud A. W. Hinchee
  • Patent number: 5914451
Abstract: A transformation protocol is described for the particle mediated transformation of soybean. This protocol is based on gene delivery into the growing meristem of a soybean embryo. Prior transformation protocols based on meristematic gene delivery in soybean did not depend on selection due to difficulties in using selection agents in differentiated tissue in soybean. It has been found that a post bombardment culture with glyphosate selection can dramatically increase the efficiency of such a transformation protocol.

    Assignee: Monsanto Company
Inventors: Brian Martinell, Lori A. Julson, Maud A. W. Hinchee, Dannette Connor-Ward, Dennis McCabe, Carl Emler
  • Patent number: 5824877
Abstract: A method for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation and regeneration of soybean is disclosed. The method utilizes a cotyledon explant which is prepared by first removing the hypocotyl and then tearing the two cotyledons apart at the cotyledonary node. The explant may be inoculated with either a smear of the disarmed Agrobacterium vector or of liquid culture of the bacterium.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 25, 1996
Date of Patent: October 20, 1998
    Assignee: Monsanto Company
Inventors: Maud A. Hinchee, Dannette Connor-Ward
