The disclosed poloxamer-based intralesional injections are employed for treating different types of cancer in humans and other animal species. The disclosed intralesional injections can be used as the sole therapy or in combination with one or more additional therapies, such as, chemotherapy, electrotherapy, immunotherapy and/or radiation therapy. The disclosed intralesional injections can be employed in virotherapy and gene therapy treatments. The disclosed intralesional injections are designed for immediate release or controlled release of the active drugs. The disclosed intralesional injections are employed for local or systemic administration of active drugs.
