  • Patent number: 4228784
Abstract: Fireplace forced air heating apparatus comprises a heat exchanger having a pair of tubes, which may serve as andirons, communicating with a plenum within the heat exchanger and extending outwardly to the front of the fireplace. The tubes connect with duct work including a reversible fan, a hot air register, and a baffle all designed for interchangeable connection to the tubes as required to adapt the installation to various fireplace settings. The tubes and duct work are telescoping to accommodate fireplaces of varying dimension.

  • Patent number: 4178791
Abstract: A technique and device for correcting front end misalignment resulting from bent or twisted front axle assemblies which may be performed without dismantling the front end of the vehicle. The apparatus includes means for laterally clamping the axle assembly and means for applying a bending force to the axle at a position laterally displaced from that of the clamping means. A base assembly is utilized to support the axle at its normal height after the wheel has been removed. A novel breast plate is utilized to support the base of a horizontally disposed hydraulic jack which provides the desired camber correction. Preferred embodiments are particularly designed to be utilized with Volkswagen automobiles.

  • Patent number: 4167175
Abstract: A self-extinguishing grill combination comprises an hibachi-type grill and a substantially air-tight pouch dimensioned to receive the grill with its charge of burning solid fuel. The pouch has an opening sized to pass the grill. The opening is provided with a substantially air-tight closure adjustable between open and closed positions. The grill with its charge of burning fuel is inserted into the pouch through the opening after which the opening is sealed with the closure, thereby sealing off the pouch interior and extinguishing the burning fuel.

  • Patent number: 4158992
Abstract: A combination hibachi-type grill and rotisserie comprises at least one fuel tray mounted on a base. Securing means demountably secures a pair of brackets to opposite sides of the tray in vertical arrangement. Mounting means on the brackets rotatably receives a spit longitudinally of the tray. Drive means coupled to the spit drives the same at a predetermined rotational speed.

  • Patent number: 4150325
Abstract: A system, for supplying electrical power from a source to a load, of the type employing phase controlled rectifiers for controlling the power from a polyphase source to the load includes circuitry to detect the existence of a rectifier which is conducting at an improper time and to provide appropriate corrective action to terminate such improper conduction.

  • Patent number: 4133335
Abstract: A portable cooking unit of the type having dished fuel trays pivotally joined to a central frame for movement between raised fuel lighting positions and lowered cooking positions, and having removable grills comprises improved support means for supporting the grills releasably.Bails, which are attached to the fuel trays for supporting them in their lowered positions, have indented medial portions allowing a user's hand to be placed under them for moving the fuel trays to their raised positions when they are hot. The bails are movable between carrying positions for carrying the cooking unit and support positions for supporting the fuel trays when cooking, by means of inwardly facing extensions located at their extremities. The extensions fit rotatably in bores located in the fuel trays allowing the bails to be moved over camming surfaces into detents which retain them in their support positions.

  • Patent number: 4103531
Abstract: A method and apparatus for correcting misalignment resulting from a bent strut in a motor vehicle without requiring dismantling. The wheel support and alignment portion of a vehicle includes a wheel supporting hub, a wheel drum through which the hub extends and the strut which is connected between the hub and the frame of the vehicle. The technique comprehends the steps of holding the strut at a point adjacent the portion thereof to be bent, and applying a bending force to the portion of the hub which extends through the wheel drum. A wheel holding device is preferably connected to the wheel drum via the wheel's threaded bolts and lug nuts. The wheel holder has a horizontally extending thrust plate against which the piston of a jack is applied to push either upwardly or downwardly as the correction may require. An auxiliary U-shaped frame may be utilized to support the bending jack when a downward bending force is desired.

  • Patent number: 4100668
Abstract: The rung assembly is made of two piece construction and of metal while the siderail is made of a reinforced plastics material. The rung assembly includes a rung having a hollow end and a flanged fitting which is secured over the hollow end of the rung by swaging of the hollow end and fitting under a longitudinally applied compressive force. The compression force forms peripheral beads on the rung and fitting which interlock with each other. The rung assembly is secured to the siderail by any suitable fastening means such as rivets, bolts and the like which pass through the flange of the fitting and siderail.

  • Patent number: 4027741
Abstract: Hinge mechanism for locking the two foldable sections of an extension stepladder in spread-apart position. Each section has a locking pin and slot at its upper end for interlocking with a complementary slot and pin on the other section when the sections are swung apart on one of said pins as a pivot, the pin and slot on one section being disengageable from the slot and pin on the other section by relative longitudinal movement of the sections when the sections are folded together.
