Patent number: 11770155Abstract: A method for execution in a central controller comprises obtaining an interconnection topology for a plurality of nodes interconnected via hybrid data/power links; obtaining a power distribution map associated with the topology; and causing DC power to be distributed to the nodes via the links according to the power distribution map. Also, such a node in which there is at least one power-receiving port and at least one power-transmitting port, a controller and power switching circuitry. The controller operates based on power drawn from a portion of the DC power received via the power-receiving port. The controller determines a destination of data packets received via any of the ports and outputting those of the received data packets that are not destined for the network device via another one of the ports. The controller also causes the power switching circuitry to output via plural power-transmitting ports respective portions of the received DC power received at the power-receiving port.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2021Date of Patent: September 26, 2023Assignee: GENETEC INC.Inventors: Danny Roy, Louis-Philippe Brais, Jean-Yves Pikulik

Patent number: 11611446Abstract: A plurality of intermediary devices may be interposed in a hybrid data/power connection between a power source and a powered device. In one aspect, the intermediary devices may be connected in series. Such connecting may be referred to as “daisy chaining.” In other aspects, the intermediary devices may be connected in a tree or a mesh. Each intermediary device may be configured to consume, for its own use, power that is supplied over the hybrid data/power connection and to deliver remaining power over the hybrid data/power connection to at least one other device. Furthermore, each intermediary device may be configured to independently route data and power to downstream devices.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2020Date of Patent: March 21, 2023Assignee: Genetec Inc.Inventors: Danny Roy, Louis-Philippe Brais, Benoit Lemieux, Jean-Yves Pikulik

Patent number: 11281282Abstract: Technologies exist that allow for power to be supplied over a data connection, e.g., Power over Ethernet (PoE). Power sourcing equipment (PSE) supplies power to a powered device (PD) over the data connection. There may be applications in which it is desired or necessary to insert an intermediary device on a data connection between the PSE and the PD. An intermediary device is disclosed that can be inserted between a PSE and a PD. The intermediary device attempts to power itself using power supplied by the PSE over the data connection, rather than using an auxiliary power supply. In some embodiments, the intermediary device acts like a PD and requests from the PSE enough power for both itself and the actual PD. The intermediary device then also acts as a PSE to deliver unused power over the data connection to the actual PD.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2019Date of Patent: March 22, 2022Assignee: GENETEC INC.Inventors: Danny Roy, Louis-Philippe Brais, Benoit Lemieux

Publication number: 20200130494Abstract: A screen apparatus provides protection of an exterior part of a stationary vehicle from any potential damages caused by sun exposure, weather, etc. The apparatus can be detachably and noninvasively applied to the vehicle using detachable fasteners. The apparatus comprises at least one planar indicium that permits a user to personalize the apparatus to their aesthetic. Additionally, the apparatus offers a tiered or overlapping modular indicium to facilitate adjustment and further personalization of the screen. An electrical assembly comprising a power storage and a processor can offer the user interactive control of a speaker and illumination system using a switch and/or a personal computing device. Thus, the apparatus addresses the conventional detrimental assignment of screen elements of a vehicle and strengthens the personalization of screens to the user through a modular indicium alongside an electrical assembly to facilitate the manipulation of illumination and sound.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 25, 2019Publication date: April 30, 2020Inventor: Danny Roy Fiber

Patent number: 10614495Abstract: Aspects described herein pertain to the use of an adaptive and tunable processing system and method to provide a risk assessment and compliance analysis, but are not so limited. An adaptive and tunable processing system of an embodiment adaptively determines an amount of compliance and/or risk based on one or more quantification variables, including one or more of a litigation category variable, a licensing category variable, and/or a consumer sentiment category variable, to generate a stratified score that quantifies an amount of compliance and/or risk associated with a particular entity. The system of an embodiment uses one or more adaptive filters tuned to output values corresponding to an amount of compliance and/or risk associated with use of a particular entity to perform a service or services.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2016Date of Patent: April 7, 2020Assignee: EXPERIAN HEALTH, INC.Inventors: Christopher G. Busch, Danny Roy Buell, Jr., Nathaniel W. Lutz, Zackary N. Dixon, Rich Lucas, Colin Kriwox, Stephanie Wentland

Patent number: 8398181Abstract: This invention generally relates to the configuration of the inner surface of a traction band which increases the protection of the embedded reinforcing elements without reducing the flexibility of the band or increasing the generation of heat. The outer surface of the band generally comprises a plurality traction lugs while the inner surface generally comprises a plurality of drive and/or guide lugs. According to the present invention, each group of traction lugs, drive lugs and guide lugs, which are generally laterally aligned, defines generally non-flexible lug areas and each of these lug areas are separated by flexible and generally lug-less hinge areas. The lug areas, on the inner surface thereof, further comprise projections located between the drive lugs and the guide lugs and along the wheel paths defined therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2007Date of Patent: March 19, 2013Assignee: Soucy International Inc.Inventors: Rémi Breton, Danny Roy, François Duquette
