Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying institutional risks using automated news profiling and recommendations re news relevance are provided. The method includes: receiving textual information that relates to a potential risk; analyzing the received textual information to extract a trigger, an outcome, and an exposure vessel of the potential risk; retrieving news items from online news aggregators based on the extracted information; obtaining a metric that relates to a degree of relevance of each news item to the potential risk; and calibrating the metric based on user inputs. The metric may be obtained by using a Sentence-BERT neural network model in conjunction with a cosine similarity metric.
