  • Publication number: 20240039384
Abstract: A current detection circuit and a controller for a switching converter circuit are disclosed. An emulated current generation module emulates a current flowing through an inductor, and a current sampling module actually samples the inductor current. Moreover, an error determination module determines an error between the actually sampled and emulated currents and adjusts, based on the error, a rate of variation of the emulated current.

  • Publication number: 20230387913
Abstract: A minimum on-time circuit, a controller, a circuit system and a current detection method are disclosed, the minimum on-time circuit is capable of configuring an extended minimum on-time length longer than a normal minimum on-time length for a transistor switch. Under a condition where there is a need for current detection through the transistor switch within the minimum on-time, the minimum on-time may be extended from the shorter normal minimum on-time length to the longer extended minimum on-time length, thereby ensuring successful current detection within the minimum on-time of the transistor switch. Under any other condition, the transistor switch may be configured, as needed, to have the normal minimum on-time length. This enables improved system safety and controllability, while exerting a minimized impact on system performance.

  • Publication number: 20230208302
Abstract: A controller in a switched-mode power supply and a method for control thereof are disclosed by the present invention. The controller provided in the present invention is used to control a power switching device in the switched-mode power supply to convert an input DC voltage into an output DC voltage. The controller includes a sampling and feedback unit and a ramp compensation unit and is configured to obtain a first ramp signal reflecting energy variation of an energy storage element and to produce a second ramp signal from the first ramp signal so that the difference between the second ramp signal and the first ramp signal is lower than a predetermined value.

  • Publication number: 20230198400
Abstract: The present invention provides a controller, a switched-mode power supply and a method for controlling a switched-mode power supply. In response to a change of the switched-mode power supply from a continuous conduction mode to a discontinuous conduction mode, slope compensation is carried out with an output peak voltage raised by a compensating DC offset. Moreover, in response to a change of the switched-mode power supply from the discontinuous conduction mode to the continuous conduction mode, the compensating DC offset is subtracted from the peak voltage. In this way, an additional DC offset that would be introduced by a conventional slope compensation approach can be eliminated, maintaining a valley of a sampled feedback voltage constant both under steady load conditions and during load jumps.

  • Publication number: 20230198399
Abstract: A switched-mode power supply and a control circuit for use in a switched-mode power supply are disclosed. In addition to an EA module, a PWM comparator module and a soft-start voltage generation module, the control circuit also includes an amplitude limiter module for limiting the amplitude of an EA signal based on a soft-start reference voltage and thereby enabling the amplitude of a signal input to the PWM comparator module from the EA module to follow a soft-start control signal and vary stably and smoothly. This can reduce the risk of output voltage and inductor current overshoots due to DC loop establishment during startup of the switched-mode power supply, enhance stability and safety of the power supply system during startup, and accelerate the DC loop establishment.
