  • Patent number: 8139035
Abstract: A keypad includes discrete keys formed by touch sensors or virtual keys on a touch sensitive area. The discrete or virtual keys are mechanically linked to a biased switch. The key that has been touched during a keystroke is identified through a signal from the touch sensors whilst a keystroke is recorded upon a signal from the biased switch. The combination of the touch sensors with a biased switch provides tactile feedback. The use of touch sensors or a touch sensitive area allows the keypad to be constructed with a substantially flush surface without parting lines.

  • Patent number: 7313389
Abstract: A portable device which includes a body, a cover and a key. The cover has a closed position for at least partially covering the body, and the key is accessible when the cover is in this position. The functionality of the key changes depending upon the state of the device. One such function is the muting of an audible indicator provided by a speaker or the like of the device. This may occur, for example, if the key is actuated when the device is a phone and has received an incoming call or if it has an alarm.

  • Patent number: 6048266
Abstract: A glazed-in ventilator (10) includes a flap (12) which is rotatable about its longitudinal axis. Each end of the flap is connected by a thumb wheel (24) to an end cap (28). Inside the thumb wheel, a series of projections (36) engage a conical surface (34). This engagement provides an axial thrust along the flap which ensures that the structure of the ventilator is rigid. In addition, the ventilator may be manufactured to relatively low tolerances and the friction coupling provided by the engagement of pegs (36) and surface (34) works well even if the flap is not exactly the designed length.

  • Patent number: 5035350
Abstract: Presented is a method and apparatus for precision control of work fluids in a squeezable tube that has no surge of work material during the shut off closing of the tube which is accomplished by a compensator moving simultaneously and oppositely to the shut off member movement, each of the compensator and the shut off member having different stroke lengths and tube engagable surface areas which effectively keep the internal volume of the tube the same. The method and apparatus are useful standing alone, in coordination with precision positive displacement pumping under computer control which is also presented, and as a part of sequential or simultaneous movement of a valve/pump dispensing head coordinated with a stationary or movable work piece to provide exceedingly fine control dispensing. Suckback between dispensing shots is coordinated with shut off and movements of inlet, outlet and dispensing members to afford operator programmable dispensing with precision and without drip.
