  • Patent number: 5332309
Abstract: A mixing head for thoroughly mixing and uniformly dispersing a dry filler material within a single liquid or a reactive mix. Dry filler is supplied to the compression chamber of the mixing head. A compression auger is mounted in the compression head is driven by a first drive shaft and compresses the dry filler. The speed of rotation of the compression auger is altered in response to the relative pressure of the dry filler within the compression chamber as measured by a pressure sensor. Air expelled from the compressive dry filler is removed through a port in the compression chamber. The compressed dry filler is conveyed to the mixing chamber of the mixing head. The mixing element is rotatively mounted within the mixing chamber for thoroughly mixing the dry filler with the liquid components. The mixing element is driven by a second drive shaft and can be driven in an opposite direction of rotation from the compression auger.

  • Patent number: 4679710
Abstract: A hot melt foam adhesive system including a gear pump wherein gas is mixed under pressure into the molten adhesive and is driven into solution with the adhesive. The gas is supplied to the pump via a one-way check valve operative to prevent the back flow of molten adhesive to a gas flow control valve, regulator, and gauge. The check valve is positioned above the level of the pump so that molten adhesive cannot flow by gravity into the check valve. The check valve is so constructed that it is biased into a closed position by a spring on the gas side of the valve so that adhesive cannot collect around and foul the spring of the valve.

  • Patent number: 4460140
Abstract: A support for a flexible heated dispensing hose comprising a hollow cylinder having opposite ends. A bracket attaches the cylinder to the dispenser. A helical spring is contained within the cylinder and extends beyond the opposite ends thereof. The hose is supported by the spring and cylinder so that the hose is free to move from side to side, the hose is prevented from kinking, abrasion of the hose against the cylindrical member is reduced, and optimum ventilation of the hose is provided.

  • Patent number: 4352007
Abstract: A heating system is disclosed for a hot melt hose having multiple physically and thermally interchangeable series-connected heated hose sections wherein different hose sections exhibit different electrical power requirements per unit length. The multiple sections of the hose are physically and electrically interconnected end-to-end between a pressurized hot melt source and a hot melt dispenser, such as a hand-held gun, having a trigger-controlled valve for regulating the flow of hot melt from the gun. Each of the hose sections includes an inner, fluid impervious, chemically inert tube, preferably fabricated of tetrafluoroethylene; an electrically conductive multi-strand braided sheath snugly embracing the exterior surface of the inner tube and in intimate heat transfer contact therewith for supplying strength and heat to the tube; and an outer sheath of thermal insulating material surrounding the intermediate braided sheath for minimizing heat loss to the environment.

  • Patent number: 4334637
Abstract: An extrusion nozzle assembly for use on a dispenser of molten hot melt adhesive. The nozzle comprises a heat conductive insert housed within a heat insulative plastic holder. A resilient seal within the holder prevents leakage between the nozzle and the dispenser when the nozzle is threaded only "finger tight" onto the dispenser.

  • Patent number: 4012186
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for making panels, such as wall panels, particularly of the type having metallic skins with a foam insulation therebetween. A movable carriage supports temperature controlled mold platens which can carry the skin material and which swing about a common axis to open and close. The carriage is positioned under a moving nozzle assembly which dispenses the insulation material between the skins. Means are provided to form male and female ends for the panels for interlock with other panels. In addition, means are provided so that the apparatus can be readily adjusted to form panels of varying widths.

  • Patent number: 4003501
Abstract: Disclosed is a device which permits a plurality of fluids to be received in a mixing chamber simultaneously through nozzles from fluid input chambers. Actuation of a fluid cylinder opens valves so that the fluids are received under pressure in the input chambers. A second fluid cylinder then opens the mixing chamber so that the nozzles emit both fluids simultaneously which mix by impingement and thereafter are dispensed from the mixing chamber. When the valves are closed recirculation is accomplished through a plurality of ports, thereby allowing the fluids to remain at desirable temperatures and viscosity.
