  • Patent number: 10572219
Abstract: A system and methods for acquiring cadence and selecting a song version based on the acquired cadence are disclosed. If the system detects a new cadence, then a new song version that corresponds to the new cadence can be played. The new song version playback can start in a corresponding position as the location of playback in a currently-playing song version. Each related song version shares one or more characteristics, such as melody, but is different in at least one characteristic, such as tempo.

  • Publication number: 20190235828
Abstract: Systems, devices, apparatuses, components, methods, and techniques for cadence determination and media content selection are provided. An example media-playback device comprises a media-output device that plays media content items, a cadence-acquiring device, and a cadence-based media content selection engine. The cadence-acquiring device includes an accelerometer and a cadence-determination engine configured to determine a cadence based on acceleration data captured by the accelerometer. The cadence-based media content selection engine is configured to identify a media content item based on the cadence determined by the cadence-determining engine and cause the media-output device to playback the identified media content item.

  • Publication number: 20190220084
Abstract: A system for multi-track playback of media content includes: a media device; a user interface, provided at the media device, which displays a visual array of media options, a playback logic, provided within the media device, which is configured so that, while a selected point or region is determined by the user interface as being moved in response to user input, within the visual array of media options, the system determines media options that are proximate to the selected point or region, and adjusts playback parameters for corresponding media content items, by crossfading or otherwise combining playback to reflect the media options relative distances from the selected point or region; and a tempo logic, provided within the media device, which is configured to provide or receive a selected tempo and provide the one or more media content items associated with the selected tempo.

  • Publication number: 20190196778
Abstract: A system operates to manage accessibility of media content items based on a user's performance of a repetitive motion activity. The system can generate rule data based on a rule designed to permit access to certain media content items. The rule data can include information about various conditions to be satisfied to make the media content items accessible for playback. Such conditions can be associated with a user's performance or status of a repetitive motion activity.

  • Publication number: 20190114361
Abstract: This disclosure concerns the provision of media, and more particularly streaming of media. In particular, one aspect herein relates to a method performed by a server system of streaming an audio content item to an electronic device. In response to receiving a request message from the electronic device, a selected audio content item is retrieved from a first storage. Descriptive metadata including an origin-ID associated with the retrieved audio content item is determined. A second storage is browsed utilizing said metadata including the origin-ID to locate non-static media content item(s) associated with the origin-ID. In response to finding a non-static media content item associated with the origin ID, the selected audio content item is sent along with the located non-static media content item to the electronic device for simultaneous presentation of the audio content item and the located non-static media content item.

  • Publication number: 20170235826
Abstract: A system for supporting a user's repetitive motion activity operates to manage cadence-based playlists identifying one or more media content items having a tempo corresponding to a user's cadence. The cadence-based playlists can be categorized by different tempi or tempo ranges that cover all likely cadences during the user's activities. A media-playback device is provided to acquire a user's cadence and retrieve a cadence-based playlist associated with a tempo or a tempo range corresponding to the cadence.

  • Publication number: 20170075468
Abstract: A system and method for playback of media content, for example music, video, or other media content. A media device having a media playback application and including a touch-sensitive user interface can be adapted to display a visual array of media options, for example as a grid or list of card elements. Each media option can be associated with one or more media content items that can be streamed to and/or played on the device. The system can determine a selected card element, or media options that are proximate to a selected point or region of the visual array, and play or crossfade media content as appropriate. In accordance with various embodiments, additional features can be provided that improve user interaction, for example the use of audible notifications, media caching, or touch menus, including support for force-sensitive touch input.
