  • Patent number: 8718379
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting tampering with an image capturing device. The method includes determining a change has occurred in average intensity if an image, determining a percentage area of a foreground mask, detecting related at least one edge and determining at least one edge weight, utilizing the average intensity, the percentage area of the foreground mask, and the at least one edge weight to determining offset of edge blocks of an image, and utilizing the determining offset of edge blocks to detect tampering with an image capturing device.

Date of Patent: May 6, 2014
    Assignee: Texas Instruments Incorporated
Inventors: Deborah K. Thomas, Darnell J. Moore, Vinay Sharma
  • Patent number: 8160150
Abstract: Method, video encoders, and digital systems are provide in which motion vector determination includes selecting a plurality of candidate motion vectors for a macroblock using a cost function including both a block distortion measure and a motion vector cost measure for single-partition motion vectors in the plurality of candidate motion vectors and using a cost function including a distortion measure without a motion vector cost measure for multi-partition motion vectors in the plurality of candidate motion vectors, and refining the plurality of candidate motion vectors to obtain a refined plurality of candidate motion vectors, wherein multi-partition motion vectors of the plurality of candidate motion vectors are refined using a cost function including a distortion measure without a motion vector cost measure and single-partition motion vectors of the plurality of candidate motion vectors are refined using a cost function including both a block distortion measure and a motion vector cost measure.

  • Publication number: 20110081087
Abstract: A method of image processing is provided which includes non-recursive hysteresis thresholding in Canny edge detection. The non-recursive hysteresis thresholding reduces computational complexity and eliminates the potential for call stack overflow. More specifically, hysteresis thresholding is performed in a raster-scan order pass over the image data to connect edge segments to form continuous edges.
