The health monitoring device to monitor health of the plurality of devices, the probable failure condition indicating when the device is predicted to stop functioning. The computation engine is to compute a failure prediction gap for each of the plurality of devices. The failure prediction gap indicating a difference between the probable failure condition and the actual failure condition. Patent number: 7299502Abstract: A document management system and method. The inventive system includes a server for providing data from a stored document. Software is provided on the server for encrypting the data. A communications subsystem is included for transporting the encrypted data from the server to the client. Software is provided at the client for decrypting the encrypted data. The inventive method includes the steps of: using a client machine to access a server via a network and to request data therefrom; encrypting at least a portion of said data on said server; communicating said encrypted data from said server to said client; and decrypting said data on said client. In the illustrative embodiment, the inventive method operates under the control of an agent residing on the server. The encrypting software is a first applet residing on the server and the decrypting software is a second applet residing on the client. Patent number: 7027744Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include a toner cartridge for the printing of MICR characters that includes a memory device that is programmed with the requisite font for MICR characters. The font is accessible for the printing of MICR characters when the toner cartridge is installed in a printer. In a further embodiment, the memory device on the toner cartridge may also contain a data flag indicating that a print job must print at least one symbol in the MICR font. Corresponding printer firmware may then determine if this flag is present, and, if present, will prevent the printing of print jobs that do not include at least one character to be printed in the MICR font. This prevents MICR toner from being wasted on documents that do not require MICR toner, such as normal office correspondence.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2003Date of Patent: April 11, 2006Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Companny, L.P.Inventors: Shell S. Publication number: 20030188186Abstract: A system and method for proper authorization of printing services is described. The system and method secures access to printing services in a public communication network. A print job request is received through the network and an attempt is made to ascertain the source for the print job. If the source is ascertained, then a determination is made whether the source for the print job originated from within the network or outside the network, prior to authorizing the printing of the print job. If the print job originates from within the network, printing of the print job is authorized.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 1, 2002Publication date: October 2, 2003Inventors: Darrel D.
