  • Publication number: 20070113441
Abstract: An illuminated, shallow weatherproof signage character has individual three dimensional back-lighted/front/side and/or silhouette-lighting, with frosted areas of plastic, with virtually no limitation on the size or number of individual characters, which may be moulded or machined from solid plastic, which is U/V protected. Miniature, preferably LED lamps are concealed in the character. The life of the LED lamps is extended by limiting the applied voltage and the “on” time. The signage characters are usually elevated from their supporting surface, to effect back-lighting. Couloured LED's or a RBG LED, can be used selectively to colour the plastic signage.

  • Publication number: 20050120604
Abstract: A long-range house number identification panel has its number indicia mounted on an illuminated viewing screen, being individually readable with the naked eye from up to 200 feet distance. An electrically energizable phosphorescent screen behind the indicia serves to illuminate the numbers at night. The identifying indicia may consist of transparencies through the surface of a blanking screen. A photocell switches off the screen in daylight; and the level of screen illumination may be limited below the optimum, by operating at a reduced voltage so as to extend the service life of the screen. A u/v barrier coat may be used to protect the phosphor of the screen against solar degradation.

  • Patent number: 4954099
Abstract: In an electrical receptacle having a generally hollow cylindrical section for receiving a high tension wire at one end and a neon tube at another end, said neon tube adapted for electrical connection with said high tension wire interiorally of said hollow cylindrical section, said hollow cylindrical section comprised of carbonate resin plastic for resisting sudden heat increases within said hollow cylindrical section in the region of said electrical contact with said neon tube and said high tension wire wherein said carbonate resin plastic has a melt flow of 9 to about 12 g/10 m at 300 degrees Centigrade and 1,200 g load and tensile stress at yield of 63 MPa, a tensile stress at break of 68 MPa, a delfection temperature under load at 1.8 MPa of 133 degrees Centigrade and a dielectric strength of greater than 16 KV/mm.
