Patent number: 11820480Abstract: A propulsion system for a boat comprises a plurality of aerofoils connected to a main mast. At least one of the aerofoils is a displaceable aerofoil adapted to be displaced along the main mast between an open position and a closed position. When the displaceable aerofoil is in its open position the aerofoils together form a sail of open sail area. When the displaceable aerofoil is in its closed position at least some of the aerofoils overlap to form a sail of closed sail area, the closed sail area being less than the open sail area. The propulsion system can include a displacement mechanism to displace the displaceable aerofoil between its open and closed positions; at least one of the aerofoils having a solar panel thereon; and/or a stub mast extending along and free to rotate about a stub axis and connected to the main mast by a stub pivot.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2019Date of Patent: November 21, 2023Assignee: Darrell Stephen SmithInventor: Darrell Stephen Smith

Patent number: 9031451Abstract: An example toner cartridge includes a reservoir for containing toner and an exit port in fluid communication with the reservoir. A shutter is positioned at the exit port and movable between an open position and a closed position. A first linkage member is operatively connected to the shutter to open the shutter upon being actuated by a first engagement feature. A second linkage member is pivotally attached to a side wall of the housing and biased toward a home position. A third linkage member is movable with the second linkage member. When the second linkage member is in the home position, the third linkage member is in a blocking position preventing the first linkage member from opening the shutter. When the second linkage member pivots away from the home position, the third linkage member moves to a non-blocking position permitting the first linkage member to open the shutter.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2013Date of Patent: May 12, 2015Assignee: Lexmark International, Inc.Inventors: Darrell Stephen Rulon, John Andrew Buchanan, James Anthany Carter, II, Gregory Alan Cavill, Mark Duane Foster, Benjamin Keith Newman, Matthew Lee Rogers, Keith Seaman, Christopher Gene Vowels, Tyler Frederick Williams

Patent number: 7982564Abstract: A starter solenoid comprises a solenoid cap defining a contact channel. A first terminal and a second terminal are provided on the solenoid cap. A contact is moveable within the channel between a first position where the contact touches the first and second terminals and a second position where the contact is removed from the first and second terminals. A shield is positioned in the channel to space the contact apart from the channel walls. The contact comprises a first terminal face connected to a second terminal face. The first and second terminal faces are configured to respectively contact the first and second terminals when the contact is in the first position. Opposing lips extend from opposite sides of the first terminal face with a curved shoulder provided between the first terminal face and each of the opposing lips.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2008Date of Patent: July 19, 2011Assignee: Remy Technologies, LLCInventors: Peter K Farrar, David A. Fulton, Darrell Stephens

Patent number: 5429496Abstract: A portable flare boom for the combustion of waste gases is disclosed for easy installation and maintenance requiring limited labor to adjust and install the flare boom. Preferably, the portable flare boom is for locations close to tank batteries or oil wells for the incineration of waste gas which is often vented into the atmosphere. It has a unitary vertical support frame perpendicular to a base plate and a hinge pin located on the vertical support frame for raising and lowering a flare stack pipe. On the upper end of the flare stack pipe is located a flaring assembly.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1993Date of Patent: July 4, 1995Assignee: National Tank CompanyInventors: Darrell A.
