Abstract: An actuator assembly includes an actuator drive source and a gust lock. The actuator drive source is operable to supply an actuator drive torque to drive a component. The gust lock is movable between a locked position, in which rotation of the drive source is prevented, and an unlocked position, in which rotation of the drive source is not prevented. The gust lock includes a lock shaft, a lock rotor, a lock motor, and a linear actuator. The lock shaft is rotatable with the drive source when the gust lock is in the unlocked position. The lock rotor is rotatable with the lock shaft. The lock motor is configured to supply a lock drive torque. The linear actuator is coupled to receive the lock drive torque and is configured, upon receipt of the lock drive torque, to move between an engaged position and a disengaged position.

Abstract: A system and method for presenting a visual message by illumination. The system includes an LED light source and a transparent sheet. The transparent sheet is a transmission medium that includes a modified surface that refracts light in designated areas. The LED source illuminates the transparent sheet so that the LED illumination of the sheet achieves a visual effect of a neon filled glass tube lighting. The illumination system, however, is neon-free. The modified surface includes a disruption pattern or a printed ink layer, or the sheet includes two modified surfaces, one modified with a disruption pattern and another one modified with a printed ink layer. The LED light source includes multiple LED emitters on a circuit board. The LED light source projects light through the sheet in a direction that is parallel to a surface plane of the sheet.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for overlaying a passive optical network on a legacy optical access network are disclosed. In one aspect a system includes a legacy optical access network in a copper loop plant. The legacy optical access network provides access to customer premises. The system also includes a gigabit passive optical network (GPON) that is overlaid on the legacy optical access network. A fiber is shared by the GPON and the legacy optical access network. The GPON can provide a plurality of channels on the shared fiber at wavelengths that are separate and independent of wavelengths of the legacy optical access network.

Abstract: Ornamental assemblies are provided that can include a decorative fireplace portion supporting a decorative chimney portion, wherein both portions are configured to be removably-fixedly attached to a wall structure, and wherein the decorative fireplace portion defines and opening simulating a fireplace opening; and a door operably coupled within the opening. Ornamental methods are provided that can include providing an ornamental fireplace having a door operably coupled to the fireplace opening; attaching the fireplace to a wall structure within a dwelling; and periodically exchanging one decorative surface of the interior of the fireplace for another decorative surface of the interior of the fireplace.

Abstract: This new toothbrush will have a detachable head of bristles and a storage area for new bristles, so that with just the push of a button, the old, dirty bristles drop off, and a new head of bristles slide out. It will also have a built in reminder that flashes red when it's time to replace it. An LED light (and/or a speaker with a voice recorded on a small computer chip for the more upscale consumer), along with a simple timer device, will remind people that it is time to replace the old bristles with a new set. The new bristle heads will be kept in a storage area in the handle, and additional heads can be in a separate container, much like the blades of a disposable razor. When the handle and container are empty, a refill of new bristles can be purchased at a price for everyday consumers as well as our more elite buyers.

Abstract: A disposable absorbent article suitable for receiving and containing bodily exudates of a wearer where the article includes a front waist region, a back waist region and a crotch region disposed between the front and back waist regions, each region having both an interior surface and an exterior surface and wherein the article further includes a sensor comprising a material selected from the group consisting of thermochromic inks, thermochromic dyes, thermochromic liquid crystalline materials, and combinations thereof such that the sensor is fastened to an interior surface of any one of the regions.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming an absorbent core assembly containing a batt of particulate material which may be used in an absorbent article. The apparatus may include a laydown drum having a plurality of vacuum zones, a plurality of fence zones, and a plurality of blow-off zones. The vacuum zones may be substantially permeable to permit air to pass through and into the laydown drum. The fence zones may be substantially impermeable to inhibit air from passing through. The blow-off zones may be substantially permeable to permit air to pass out of and through said laydown drum. The apparatus may also include a deposition chute for depositing particulate material on a web of material in close proximity to the laydown drum. A shield may also be attached to the deposition chute in order to prevent the particles from bouncing off of the laydown drum.

Abstract: An apparatus for selectively coupling electrical connectors. The apparatus includes a common connector electrically coupled to a secondary connector and a primary connector electrically coupled to the common connector through an isolation means. The isolation means operates to electrically isolate the primary connector upon detection of an external connection to the secondary connector.
