  • Patent number: 9266662
Abstract: A dispenser for even or patterned distribution of fibrous or other additive into a base material, such as concrete. The dispenser includes a rotating hopper that contains the fiber, such that the fiber rotates with the hopper along a vertical line of axis. The dispenser further includes a rake along the base of the hopper, where the rake captures the fiber from the bottom of the hopper and filters or directs the fiber into an exit chute for the delivery system. The rake includes an array of flat and curved flanges that facilitate guidance of the fiber to the exit chute. The hopper can be positioned on one or more load cells that monitor the amount of fiber being dispensed by weight, in order to increase or decrease rotation of the hopper and rake, thus controlling amount of fiber distributed.

  • Patent number: 9132952
Abstract: A mobile fiber dispenser that dispenses a variety of types and lengths of pre-cut fibers. The main body of the dispenser is a cylindrical hopper. The pre-cut fibers are loaded into the top of the hopper. Inside the body of the dispenser is a counter auger that keeps the fibers from bridging and clumping. As the fibers pass through the counter auger, they drop into a feed auger that pushes the fibers through an auger housing toward a declumping apparatus. The counter auger and feed auger rotate in the same direction. The declumping apparatus at the end of the auger housing and feed auger intercepts the fibers as the fibers exit the auger housing. The declumping apparatus provides an even distribution of the pre-cut fiber through a discharge chute that extends downward from the auger housing. The fibers are discharged into a field vehicle's mixing process or other collection apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20070104020
Abstract: An apparatus and process for mixing and depositing a strand reinforced concrete mix at a job site from a concrete delivery truck including a mixing means on the truck for mixing separate concrete ingredients at a job site, which truck further includes a fiber strand chopping device on the truck disposed and adapted to introduce chopped fiber strand lengths into the separate concrete ingredients and water and deposit the mix selectively at the job site without clumping and grouping of the fiber strand lengths in the mix.

  • Publication number: 20060087910
Abstract: Chopped fibers are wetted in a wetting apparatus 120 before they are mixed with other ingredients in a concrete mix. The fibers are carried in a fluid stream inside pipe 112. The fluid stream is created by a blower 110 and a vacuum pump 116 at opposite ends of the pipe. The fluid stream carries the fibers to the wetting apparatus where water wet the fibers.
