    Abstract: An Apium graveolens L. var dulce celery plant with a hollow petiole suitable for use as a straw for consuming beverages or as a food product where other food products are capable of being stuffed inside the hollow celery tube. The edible, hollow celery is mild in taste and more resistant to rupturing than celeriac and leaf celery with hollow petioles.

    Abstract: A hollow, individual celery cylinder cut to a length of about one to twelve inches, and having an outside diameter of about 0.1 to 2 inch and an inside diameter of 0.075 to 1.85 inches. The celery cylinder is mild in taste and resistant to rupture upon application of internal vacuum to the cylinder, such that it can be used as a drinking straw. The cylinder can also be stuffed with a foodstuff, to form a novel food product.
