  • Publication number: 20100170979
Abstract: A sheet material dispenser includes a controller for automatically controlling the lengths of sheet materials dispensed from a continuous roll by identifying the type of sheet materials on the roll and dispensing suitable lengths of the identified sheet material. The dispenser desirably has a support for rotatably supporting a roll of sheet material carrying identification relating to the type of sheet material on the roll, and an identifier positioned in or adjacent the dispenser for identifying the type of sheet material on the roll. A processor receives data from the identifier, processes the data and generates an output command, and a controller controls the lengths of sheet material dispensed from the roll in response to the output command. In this way, more absorbent products may be dispensed in shorter lengths and less absorbent products may be dispensed in longer lengths.

  • Patent number: 6862802
Abstract: An apparatus for use in attaching a head gimbal assembly (HGA) onto an actuator arm of an actuator assembly during an HGA installation process. The apparatus includes, a central body portion with a base support surface; and a pair of support arms extending from the central body portion forming a channel sized to accommodate expansion of an attachment aperture of an actuator arm during the installation process. Each support arm includes, a first and second support surface offset from and parallel to the base support surface. A first support arm thickness is formed between the first support surface and the base support surface, while a second support arm thickness is formed between the second support surface and the base support having a thickness less than the first support arm thickness. Each support arm thickness supports a corresponding HGA adjacent actuator arm during the installation process.

  • Publication number: 20030154595
Abstract: Method and apparatus for attaching a head gimbal assembly (HGA) onto a rigid actuator arm of an actuator assembly. A spacer key is provided comprising a support arm having a base support surface and adjacent first and second support surfaces opposite the base support surface. The support arm has a first thickness from the first support surface to the base support surface and a second thickness from the second support surface to the base support surface. The second thickness is greater than the first thickness by a distance nominally equal to a thickness of an HGA base plate. During installation the second thickness is used to support a single HGA between adjacent actuator arms, while the first thickness is used to support a pair of opposing HGAs between the adjacent actuator arms.

  • Patent number: 6145779
Abstract: A dual roll dispenser includes a housing having first and second roll retaining devices for holding at least two rolls within the housing. A feed mechanism is disposed in the housing to dispense material from the first roll and second roll in a sequential feeding operation. A guide member is disposed within the housing and is movable between a staging position spaced from the feed mechanism and an operating position wherein the guide member contacts and moves material from the second roll to a dispensing nip of the feed mechanism for subsequent dispensing of material from the second roll upon the first roll being depleted to a predetermined degree. A movable trigger device is disposed against the outer circumferential surface of the first roll and moves in a path as the first roll is reduced in diameter upon depletion thereof. When the first roll is depleted to a certain diameter, the trigger device passes beyond and out of contact with the first roll into a trigger position.

  • Patent number: 4838158
Abstract: An apparatus for marking an article has a frame within which a printing carriage is rotatably mounted. The carriage has two fulcrum assemblies which slide in channels on the frame. A drive mechanism moves the carriage from a marking position to a position where ink is applied to selected printing characters on the carriage. The carriage is moved to a third position where the fulcrum assemblies are released from the channels to rotate the carriage to facilitate changing the printing characters.

  • Patent number: 4470864
Abstract: A pneumatic labelling apparatus including a portable base frame having a unitary handle member, in which the base frame includes a magazine for supporting a roll of separable label carrying web material, a web entraining device guiding the web from the magazine past a dispensing station, where each label is separated from the backing web, and then about a web feeding device. The web feeding device is sequentially actuable by a ratchet and pawl mechanism in which the pawl is reciprocably mounted upon a movable frame member within the base frame and operatively connected to the piston rod of a fluid-actuated cylinder within the handle member. The piston rod is actuated by a trigger and a control valve in a fluid circuit connected to the fluid-actuated cylinder.
