Abstract: A fluid coupling includes a housing having a seal mounted in a bore. An endform has a tip portion extending from a tip end and a retainer engagement surface which is engaged by a retainer movable in the housing to latch the endform to the housing. A protective layer is disposed on an exterior surface of the endform extending from an end spaced from the tip end of the endform and defining a bare exterior surface on the tip portion of the endform which is directly engaged by the seal.

An electrical contact is mountable in the bore of the connector housing and includes contact members in the form of projections to provide a secure electrical connection between the endform and the connector housing when the male endform is mounted in the connector housing. In one aspect, the electrical contact is formed as the spacer or top hat in the quick connector housing.

Abstract: An insertion indicator employed in conjunction with a quick connector assembly includes a base member carried within a female housing, two or more leg members extending axially from the base member and terminating adjacent an axial housing opening. A generally annular indicator member is disposed substantially within the housing opening and releasably engages the ends of the leg members. Means are provided to axially displace the base member upon engagement of the male and female elements to effect separation of the base and indicator members. Guide and limiting means are provided to ensure proper orientation of the indicator device relative to the quick connector before and during coupling of the male and female elements.
